I agree that PORK is out of control, I hate it also. That is one reason I would vote for McCain he really will fight the pork. BTW McCain is probably the only Rep. I would vote for (I live in AZ and though I am a Dem I consistantly vote McCain for sen.), if you do not know his history it is worth a look (major hero).

Well it makes more sense now...take from people that work harder, work longer, study longer, and make smart decisions and give it to people that want to stay home and watch daytime soap operas.

I get it Danr...what a concept! If you succeed, you need to pay a progressive penalty for this achievement. It doesn't matter if you make 10 times more than the next person where you would think it would be fair to pay 10 times more tax, let's punish this ridiculous behavior and tax them 20 times more...or 30 times more...

Stick out your hand Danr...how much is enough to spend on programs that OldDan listed?? After all, the legislators that passed these spending measures are smarter than you and I and know best what to do with YOUR hard earned money...don't they?

BTW...our country/state/local taxes per student are the highest in the world, so why are test scores falling? Your solution? MORE MONEY!!! We gave Jimmey Carter the Department of Education in 1977. What has Washington (the people you believe know what is best in spending our money) done with well over $500 billion (that's a billion folks) since this department was instituted as a payback to the teacher's unions???

A bunch of paper pushing and nothing!! That money should be spent by the local levels...BUT NO...Danr and his liberal friends from Ted (hic up) Kennedy's home state are smarter than everybody else.

I guess it is alright when you spend somebody else's money...but, not to me!

Is school choice an option to your liberals? NEVER!!
Is stardardized testing an option for you liberals? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

When don't you want the government in our lives? Oh I forgot...abortion.

What else? How much more is it going to cost? Gimmee, gimmee. gimmee...when is enough enough??

Lot of stuff there, I will start with education. All that propaganda that says our schools do poorly is false, this books has the facts and figures

As for Teddy we are fortunate to have a public servant like him. My uncle (a major conservative) invented a sugar substitute and had to testify before Teddy as a part of the approval process. My uncle holds a doc in physiology and is tops in his field. He told me that Teddy knew the chemestry and physology COLD he was not faking it. Teddy made darn sure that stuff was safe. This guy makes sure we are not screwed and that is why the media smears him.
As for the soap opera comment I am bugged by these people that collect disability but are not disabled, NO ONE likes that FRAUD, but that has little to do with tax policy.

Based on your grammar and spelling in the above post alone, you made my point. I gather you are a recent product of government schools and you just proved that the entire eduction system has been dumb-downed so that we all could feel better ourselves as everybody passes!! Good job Danr!! Good luck working in the private and "real-world" sector. Remember, they expect results.

what spelling error(?), as for grammer and abbreviation I have considered this an informal forum, and I could find worse around these parts.
oh chemistry sorry, had my baby in sleepin in my arm not paying attention, and I got physiology wrong 2nd time. On the whole I could pick yours apart and find worse.

Great...you can teach your newborn its first words as you formulate sentences:

    "Gimmee, gimmee, gimmee"

    Liberalism...past it on.

Midas has always been a broken record recorded some 30 years ago. He seems stuck on old labels of liberalism and convinced of the superiority of conservatism. Even the dull-witted casual observer of politics realized a long time ago that neither political party was in the game for anything other than their own self-interests. But not Midas. What he doesn’t realize is that the vast majority of Americans are just to the right or left of center on most political issues. He and his small cadre of fellow paranoids are still lurking about out there on the fringes of political reality.
Midas, if you ever want to come in from the cold, let us know. We’ll leave a light on for you. Like I always say, if you don't update your opinion to fit the current reality, your opinion is irrelevant to the conversation.

Why get along and give up my convictions that were never taught, but learned in the real world. You want me to set aside my core beliefs??

--You can't have employees without employers first.

--You can't make the poor rich by making the rich poor.

-- Taxes are way too high. This income distribution has to stop. Solution: Fair/Flat tax. You earn 10 times more, you pay 10 times more tax. The IRS has to go.

-- The Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a vital individual right. It is so important that our framers made it the 2nd Amendment. If you want more gun laws, just enforce the over 2,000 laws we have already on the books.

-- Freedom OF religion by necessity must include freedom FROM religion. I hate bible-thumpers that preach to me telling me I am going to hell. I have you people here to tell me that without implying religious overtones. If religion is in your life, then it should be a personal relationship between you and your creator. "From religion" also means that if islam wants to take over the world, I will protect myself and other infidels from this true enemy of the free world.

-- The chief cause of societal problems today is government solutions. Instead of addressing problems like welfare and crime, I believe the government made these issues worse.

-- Government should limit itself to the powers specifically granted to it in the Constitution.

-- If you harm or endanger no others, what you do is not the business of the government. A man’s damnation is his own business. If a person wants to drink himself to death or smoke dope...let him...but that same person better not come crying to us that they need medical help at OUR expense. If a man wants to buy flowers and candy for his girlfriend to romance his way to a sexual encounter, so be it. With that said, if he wants to skip the courtship process and simply hand over "X" dollars immediately to obtain the same goal, I don't see this as a problem between two consenting adults. What happens in the bedroom is nobody's business.

-- Government officals should have to obey the same laws it expects citizens and corporations to obey. Especially regarding the environment and labor.

-- Social Security should be privatized and forced to obey the laws. Citizens should have a choice in where their hard-earned dollars go.

-- Free immigration strengthens America. Illegal immigration should be punished, legal immigration should be free, fair, and easy. Companies that hire illegals need to get the book thrown at them. However immigrants should not expect free government handouts. All they should get is what anyone should get, a fair chance to rise as far as their abilities let them. This also means that immigrants need to enter the United States through legal and proper ports of entry where they can be accounted and properly documented for security purposes.

-- The welfare state doesn’t work. End it. Establish a $1 for $1 tax deduction for charitable contributions. Charitable organizations like Habitat for Humanity are way more successful than any government housing or socialized program.

-- Our educational system is broken. End the federal Department of Education and return this issue to the states. This department was a payback from Jimmy Carter to the teacher's unions. Since 1977, over a half of TRILLION dollars have been spent by this department and for what? This money would be better served at the LOCAL levels. Also individuals should haev school choice in where to send their children.

-- Amending the Constitution is a very serious thing and should not be advocated lightly or for mere matters of policy. Even though I don't agree with gay marriage or flag burning, changing the Constitution via amendment is not only wrong, but the attempt cheapens the Constitution itself.

-- National ID cards (social security cards with a picture) should be used for all government business. What I mean by government business is strictly for travel in and out of the United States, driving privileges, travel security (air, cruise, rail), voting identification, and citizen status. Nothing more than this.

--English should be the offical lanquage of the United States. That is...all legal and government business should be conducted in English. We don't need to teach firemen 10 differant ways to yell "fire" in an emergency.

So before I head out of this "cold", I'll just throw another log on to my fire.

I think that alot of what Midas states is just as Thomas Paine once said, "Common Sense".
Keep it up Midas and challenge the immoral authority of the leftist monarchy
that is enforced from their fascist political correct police and their dogs of war, the mongol ACLU.
Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukka :) To one and to all.

Actually, the military didn't have any interest in me. I was born nearly blind in my right eye. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a scope. But, if you are somehow implying that you are better than those that didn't or couldn't serve in the military, I think you delude yourself. But if it makes you feel better to wallow in you own superiority, go for it Stevie.

Is that why you see everything from the leftist side?

Now if we were in a bar I would buy you a drink after saying that so in case you didn't laugh you would at least get a high.
