I was under the impression that we had a 'shakey' truce here Moen, but if this keeps occuring you can bet I'll be back on you like ugly on an Ape.

Who said I was talking to you???????? I think you categorize yourself (as usual), and are fast to prove your intellect (again) and attack someone from out of the blue whom you feel is inferior (again). I think it's pretty obvious who does the most categorizing here on this forum. I feel sorry for you Moen, you sure have some serious issues. You may be a very intelligent person but when it comes to social skills you my friend are a babbling idiot. In the future please refrain from your typical blind-sided tactics and speak only when spoken to! Why you feel every post someone makes is directed at you, I have no idea unless you do agree that my above post relates to you thus the defensive reaction..

I'm going to start calling you Steve K.. He's an aquaintance of mine. He finished at the very top of his class at Valparaiso University and was showered with honors. Today he can't hold a job at McDonalds because of his "people skills" and not being able to associate with people. Every time I see him I think to myself, "It sure must be a lonely place at the top".
BTW, Thanks for the compliment and promotion!

I love this...attack in post #39 and retreat like coward in post #43. Listen, if you're gonna attack someone be prepared for the counter-attack. Don't pretend you were talking to the air. Are you sure that your heritage is of french soldier stock??? La Retreat! La Retreat!

I think that Bush is a closet liberal. Talk about spending..........etc....

Well, if you think about it, he gave the wealthiest folks all the money the government had and then ran up the defict. Now, he or the next administration will have to tax us and our children into the ground to pay off the current defict. You forget, conservatives aren't against everyone paying taxes, they are just against themselves having to pay any taxes. I just hope Bush remembers that rich people taste better than poor people. :)

Well I am not going to defend Bush. I voted for him more because of what the democrat party has become and who they offered as a choice then for who Bush is.
A scale thing. But lets face it. The rich always have a loop hole or a provision that protects them. I live 15 minutes from the beach on ground that is 12 feet above sea level with lakes to handle water runoff and I pay way more for flood insurance then those who have built on the beach and face ocean surges.
    Go figure.

I hear ya Andy. My brother lives in St Pete and he says the homeowners insurance down there is almost as much as my property tax is in IL. And I pay over 5 grand a year in prop tax.

You cannot TAX yourself into prosperity! If you have that liberal mind set, why don't you tax the rich a full 100% of their earnings? Many people who argue class warfare believe that plan is just! What they don't realize is that plan will only work for ONE year since no person with half of a brain would work the 2nd and subsequent years for nothing!

The best way to deal with expenses is to increase revenue. The marginal tax rate in the 80's was cut from 70% to 28% and tax revenues nearly doubled from 1982 to 1988. Now, hold on before you bring up the deficit, you still have to address spending. Just because you double your personal income doesn't mean you should double your spending plus some! You have to have guts to cut spending because some liberal will scream...they are hurting the people on welfare! Unfortunately, NOBODY in Washington is fiscally responsible anymore so all of this government spending goes unchecked. That is where the true problem lies...SPENDING IS OUT OF CONTROL.

This is where Reagan and Bush Senior errored in their fiscal policy. They should have shut down the government and told congress to submit a budget that is in line with inflation (which was very low) and within the means of true fiscal responsibility. Just because the tax rolls have more money didn't mean it should be ALL spent...which is exactly what happend. Bush Senior really screwed up and even raised taxes!! That made conservatives like me upset whereby Ross Perot almost made it to the White House preaching fiscal responsiblity and budget controls. Of course, Perot split the republican vote allowing Clinton to win the Presidency with just over 40% of the vote. Bottom line back in '92, Bush got fired and rightfully so.

BTW, even Kennedy reduced the marginal tax rate himself in the early 60's and tax rolls went up! Liberals can't understand this because they feel the best way to increase tax revenue is to raise everybody's taxes...not to lower them.

Since most liberals don't have real jobs in the private sector, they don't understand why people don't want to work and risk their capital if the government is going to take 70 cents on the dollar?? 70 cents on the dollar is not that much taxes, is it? Of course that is just federal tax. If you live in California, couple federal taxes with their state and local taxes along with countless liberal regulations are reasons why businesses by the thousands are leaving the state. So what happens to the existing residents of California? They get hit with more taxes to make up for the lost tax revenue that has left their state. Does spending subside? Absolutely not because some crying liberal wants illegals to have free medical benefits.

So go ahead and raise taxes on employers (the rich) because all you will do is hurt employees. If you feel the government can do a better job with money you earned (remember, it is NOT theirs, it's YOURS), join the socialist party.

If you beleive individuals are better suited to spend and invest their own money than some government official, than you are a fiscal conservative like me.

Flat tax like Forbes has been preaching to the deaf.
No loop holes, no special provisions, no houses on the beaches as Corporate housing, etc....

Only a liberal would state that a flat or fair tax is not "flat or fair". You make 10 times more, you pay 10 times more in taxes...but liberals hate this idea.

Sure you can, if you spend that tax money on innovation and better approaches to society's problems.

Flat tax is not fair. It is not progressive. Money is a substance of a different nature to the poor, it is used for things like food, rent and medicine. You can not tell the poor I am taking away the stuff you buy food with, but it is ok to tell the rich that you are taking away the stuff you buy Rolexs with.
That "let them eat cake" line has bad results.

You make a lot of sense Danr...as much sense as trying to put a square peg into a round hole. Or course you can't site any historical facts or logic to back up your statements. Let's see some real numbers.

You know what they are, right? You did learn that 2 plus 2 equals 4 right? Or did you learn that 2+2='s 4 if you "feel" it equals 4.

...Or maybe the bus that drove you to school looked like:

    That would explain it...

Ok...first thing....86%. Lawsuits are WAY out of control. A percentage limit will, as others have said, only raise the amount sought.

2nd, hydrogen is not the wonder fuel we're being led to believe it is. Research it and tell me what kind of polution is created in making hydrogen fuel cells...or even liquid hydrogen, and you'll find out that is the same as compairing styrafoam and paper cups. What good is it if the end product is more "friendly" when producing it kills everything first.

Need a simple thread to tug on (one of many) to unravel Michael Moore? All you have to do is look at the "military" personel he "interviewed" that "didn't support the war" (lot of quotes there). No legitimate military grunt in uniform will EVER have hair that long......ever. Guess I can't blaim him though....Clinton got rich telling bold faced lies...why shouldn't he? Guess Gore never figured out the trick.

Speaking of Gore, I don't see his name mentioned much in all this liberal vs conservative blah blah blah. Can't imagine why that is when he's a left winger and all. I'm mean after all, thanks to Al, we're all here online flaming about each other's politics. :p

Danr...you from Massachusets? If so, then you're one of the blindsided Boston type Dems. If not, move there and try living in the state Kerry made worse (didn't think it was possible) than it was before he used his rich wife's money to screw it up further.

Are you saying that the poor do not use money mostly to supply basic needs?
That would be a silly statement, it is obvious that the poor spend most if not all of their $ on basic needs, while the rich spend a tiny % on basic needs.

As for taxing ourselves into prosperity it is possible if there are good policies in place and grants (from tax dollars) are being made to research solutions to our many problems. I would say that our society is absolutely reliant on taxing our way into prosperity in that tax dollars educate our children.
