Who could have seen this coming? As America becomes more diverse, the GOP become more white and more male.

House GOP Committee Chairs Will All Be White Men In 2013.

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced who will chair all of the major House committees in the next Congress. And it turns out they all have something in common besides party affiliation: they're all white men.

There isn't a single woman or minority included in the mix of 19 House committee chairs announced Tuesday -- a stark reality for a party desperate to appeal to women and minorities after both groups overwhelmingly rejected Republicans just weeks ago in the presidential election. The one female committee chair that House Republicans currently have, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), is stepping down because her term is up. While there are still two lower-tier House committees awaiting a chair assignment -- the Ethics Committee and House Administration -- neither committee has any women or minority members.

At least one Senate Democrat was quick to point out that something is missing from the Republican lineup.

"Disappointed to see House committee chairmanships in the 113th Congress will not include a single woman. -PM," tweeted Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), who included a link to Boehner's press release announcing the chair posts.

I would have thought that they could have learned...if I didn't know any better. It's possible that they can change, but I don't see any great desire on their part to be progressive, rather the opposite, in fact.

Progress in the party, or the country, isn't really something they promote with enthusiasm. Their goal is to strengthen their party, but the strategies they use are not conductive to that goal. They don't know HOW to appeal to women, minorities, or Independents. People who are attracted to their basic platform find it difficult to deal with the party itself. They say one thing and do another, turning them off.

That's fine with me, as I don't agree with how the party tries to keep power or relevance anyway, and am enjoying watching it self-destruct.

Hmmmmmm..... interesting. Just how many minorities do you see in that photo? Are you basing your assertion on appearance only?

Aren't the dimocRATS the party of Joe Biden, Harry Reid, John Kerry (talk about your old white guys).....?
Isn't it the dimocRATS who attack any minority (Condi Rice? Clarence Thomas? Alan West?) who steps off their plantation & espouses Conservative philosophy?
What about the overtly racist comments attributed to the likes of Bill Clinton, Harry Reid, Biden & even BO himself?
Didn't the dimocRAT party lead the opposition to the Civil Rights movement?
    Wasn't Robert Byrd a Klansman?
Didn't Clinton's mentor, William Fulbright, vehemently oppose desegragation?

    Hmmm....

Thanks for pointing those out, David. What I really want to know is how someone can ascertain another person's heritage simply by their looking at their outward appearance. If anything fits the description of "prejudicial" (pre-judgment), that certainly does.

Attempting to classify another person into a specific "race" based on their outward appearance is, by definition, racism.

    racism |ˈrāˌsizəm|noun
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race [emphasis mine], esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
    • prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on such a belief: a program to combat racism.

It's sad how blind most on the left are to their own racism while nitpicking everyone else

I'm going to disagree with you on this one, David. I don't think it's a matter of blindness. They're not blind at all. In fact, I think liberals are acutely aware of their racism to a degree of laser precision. They definitely, without a doubt, see the difference in skin tone and use that as a basis for discrimination or pre-judgment. They pretend they're not racist, but their own opinions and statements betray them. However, the one thing they ARE blind to is their own hypocrisy.

Feeling sadness instead of hate. I'll take that any day, especially from people like you. Welcome to humanity. Here for a visit? Take a seat and stay a while, it's not so bad.

Now Joe, let's not jump to conclusions here. I have with me three Republicans looking for high-level appointments within the party; a woman, a Hispanic, and a black man. Let's all five of us go and conduct a few interviews and prove you're wrong.

If that's alright with you, I'd like to start with the woman. I've set-up an interview with Herman Cain, who is very excited to meet her.

(we enter office) Hello Mr. Cain, this is the woman I spoke of.

Cain: I certainly have been waiting to meet you! (unzips pants)

(we slam door as we run the hell out)

OK, maybe I misunderstood his enthusiasm a bit, sorry about that ma'am, maybe next year. (watches her leave sullen and disappointed) Yeah, that's gonna be a lawsuit. Anyway, I guess we can try the Foreign Affairs office, you ready Juan? (Juan nods)

(we enter office, and Juan immediately gets arrested and deported)

Damn! Didn't see THAT comin'! I guess it's just the three of us now. Let's try this door...

(Opens door, is met by three old white men, who immediately grab their guns and chase us out of building)

Sorry about that, good thing they got winded and took a nap, eh?

(watches as the black man runs like hell out of Washington, turns to Joe)

    I stand corrected.
