The GOP's biggest donor has a reason to want to buy this election. He is under investigation for paying bribes in Macau which of course is illegal under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. What do you suppose he wants in return for over a 100 million in donations to the GOP? My guess is that he wants the investigation by the Justice Department quashed. I think all money from this guy should be returned by the GOP but they just don't work that way. They really respect the art of the bribe on that side of the aisle foreign or domestic. Inside the investigation of leading Republican money man Sheldon Adelson A decade ago gambling magnate and leading Republican donor Sheldon Adelson looked at a desolate spit of land in Macau and imagined a glittering strip of casinos, hotels and malls. Where competitors saw obstacles, including Macau's hostility to outsiders and historic links to Chinese organized crime, Adelson envisaged a chance to make billions. Adelson pushed his chips to the center of the table, keeping his nerve even as his company teetered on the brink of bankruptcy in late 2008. The Macau bet paid off, propelling Adelson into the ranks of the mega-rich and underwriting his role as the largest Republican donor in the 2012 campaign, providing tens of millions of dollars to Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and other GOP causes. Now, some of the methods Adelson used in Macau to save his company and help build a personal fortune estimated at $25 billion have come under expanding scrutiny by federal and Nevada investigators, according to people familiar with both inquiries. Internal email and company documents, disclosed here for the first time, show that Adelson instructed a top executive to pay about $700,000 in legal fees to Leonel Alves, a Macau legislator whose firm was serving as an outside counsel to Las Vegas Sands. The company's general counsel and an outside law firm warned that the arrangement could violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. It is unknown whether Adelson was aware of these warnings. The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act bars American companies from paying foreign officials to "affect or influence any act or decision" for business gain. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/jul/17/inside-investigation-leading-republican-money-man-/
Perhaps Congress will subpoena him and he'll refuse to turn over documents. Then he'll be found in Contempt of Congress, but then simply snub his nose at Congress. If these accusations are true, at least no one was killed because of his actions.
It's really just a Justice Department issue. Congress really isn't involved. But leave it to a radical Right-winger to defend corruption. Any money from Adelson should be returned plain and simple. They have the emails that prove the charges and now it is time for the GOP to do the right thing and return Adelson's money. But you know they won't. It's not like Republicans like transparency since they vote it down or filibuster it every chance they get. Shame on you corrupt.
LOL... you say that as if the Democrats are above corruption. Whew! That's a good one even for you, Little Joe. And don't even get me started on "transparency" for God's sake. Shame on you hypocritical.
You mean Holder is trying to do something against the republicans? WOW! Who would have thought! And, BTW, BO's policy is not to return ill-gotten contributions. Why should the Republicans be any different?
Just so Little Joe doesn't get his panties in a bunch, speaking about Eric Holder in this thread is quite appropriate since the topic is "corruption". Holder is, undoubtedly, one of the most corrupt Attorneys General in our country's history. What is most amazing is that the Obama Administration is doing nothing about him and is, in fact, encouraging his corrupt behavior. What does that say about Obama himself? So, if we're going to speak about corruption, let's start from the top down beginning with where the buck stops. Obama, in allowing Holder to continue while being held in contempt of Congress and refusing to release documents pertinent to Fast & Furious is also corrupt. Where the hell is the transparency Obama promised in 2008?
So what you three knot-heads are arguing here is that any corruption on any level is complete justified by all other corruption real or imagined? Typical Right-wing logic or lack thereof.
Nope. Just pointing out the typical, idiotic liberal stance that says corruption only exists on the opposing team. Stupid liberals.
Does the poster who posted this thread really think that one rich American can buy anything he wants in a military controled China of one billion and three hundred million plus people. It is more likely that the squeeze was put on the American and I am sure that the PLA has there hand in the till in everywhich direction.
