Anybody following the Scooter Libby trial? It is sort of an interesting look into the power and relationship of the Bush/Cheney duo. Or should I say Bush/Rove/Cheney relationship? :loud: I am not a crook!
Well a defense laywers job is to get his client off, so when the prosecution loads the jury with bush haters you're going to have to shape your defense.
It's not about who's on the jury and who's on the prosecution... it's about whetherLibby lied about the administration outing a CIA agent for the purpose of political intimidation of honest people seeking truth. If it's true that Libby lied at the behest of Cheney to protect the wrongdoing of Rove, then he's at least guilty of perjury... lying under sworn testimony. Revealing of the identity of an undercover agent is treason. Covering it up is being an accessory to the act. NO MORE LIES
Dick! Cheney worst thing and scariest person in USA government. Nobody afraid of George Bush, he too stupid to make problems. But Dick pulls Bush around like string puppet. You hope this goat not want to take over complete control of government.
Anyone remember how stupid & clumsy the media made president Ford look while he was in office? Hmmmmm....
I think its funny that people consider the president to be stupid...no one, and that includes Carter, who gets to the Presidency is stupid. Not well spoken, maybe, but stupid no. You have to be pretty damn calculating and intelligent to get that far.
Maybe with a Dale Carnegie course, a Kennedy haircut, and a soft Georgia accent, pres. Bush would get along a lot better.
Now that Scooter is offically convicted, what do you want to bet there is a presidential pardon in his future? It is a Republican tradition after all and we know how Republicans love tradition. Just reporting the news I heard from Libby Lewis that Lewis Libby was convicted on 4 out of 5 felony counts. What are the odds of that little name juxtaposition? Watch, Bush will probably pardon Libby Lewis by mistake. Can anyone say tricky scooter?
Before letting the statement of "Republican tradition of pardons" slide by, take a look at past administration pardons. http://www.usdoj.gov/pardon/actions_administration.htm Bill Clinton pardoned over 140 people in his last day of office alone!
It's not the day to day pardons that all presidents end up signing that are in question. It's more like the pardons that raise eyebrows like Bush 1. You know, the ones in your own administration. Caspar W. Weinberger Pardon (See Proclamation No. 6518; 57 Fed. Reg.62,145 (1992)) Elliott Abrams Pardon (See Proclamation No. 6518; 57 Fed. Reg.62,145 (1992)) Duane R. Clarridge Pardon (See Proclamation No. 6518; 57 Fed. Reg.62,145 (1992)) Alan Fiers Pardon (See Proclamation No. 6518; 57 Fed. Reg.62,145 (1992)) Clair George Pardon (See Proclamation No. 6518; 57 Fed. Reg.62,145 (1992)) Robert C. McFarlane Pardon (See Proclamation No. 6518; 57 Fed. Reg.62,145 (1992))
Clinton has a pretty interesting list of characters he pardoned as well. Here is a partial list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton_pardons_controversy On his last day a couple of the notables were Susan McDougal, who went to prison to cover the Clinton's involvement in White Water, and Bills half brother Roger Clinton, pardoned of drug charges.
Got the wrong link for my last post. Here is the partial list:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_pardoned_by_Bill_Clinton
While presidential pardons are pretty standard fare for most adminstrations, it is the high profile ones that catch our attention especially if they are used to cover up and hide indiscretions committed by members of ones own administration. That brings us back to the question of when is Bush going to pardon Libby? He won't answer questions about pardons. He won't deny that he is going to do it. It's just a matter of when and I'd like to see if we can pick the date. Sort of like a lottery of sleeze. It is fun when when it happens to the other guys and this is my time baby. :hail: :mouth:
The facts are that he commit no crime when he was interviewed but during the interview he was charged wiith commiteding a crime responding to a crime he did not do and stated he did not know of or remembered details that were being presented to him that belonged to someone else. This is Kafa at best, anyone ever read the "Trial", and another example of the legal system being out of control for political reasons. Ask Martha Stewart, ask those Duke lacrosse players.
