The movie that left the biggest impression on me was Jaws. As I watched it as a kid I thought it was ok, no big deal. However, all these years later, I am still concerned when I go into the water and I always make sure my kids are between me and the beach.

What scary movie either influenced you on how you live
(and please I hope no one is eatting brains now)
or shook you up a bit at the time.

omg.. the scariest movies i've ever seen have to be those hideous 8mm in the collection my father made of us as children. There is nothing more evil than a 700 watt T-lamp blinding the family and igniting the christmas tree.

Honestly probably some Godzilla clone i was watching alone on a stormy sunday afternoon in the mid-sixties. I remember being too scared to run, and spent an hour under the couch.

i only say it once and i was youner when i did see it but the early 90's remake of invasion of the body snatchers freaked me out for a long time.

any and all of the old twilight zone and outer limits are great for all time.

and any zombie or plague movies really scare me. somthing about having no where to run i guess.

    1. Jaws - water deeper than I am tall is best left to the fishes.
    2. Alien - do I really want to look into that?

    everything else is baloney

Ah, one of my favorites. I was overjoyed when I found it on DVD.

Movie that scared me the most when seen for the 1st time - The Exorcist(outdoor theatre during a lightening storm).

My favorite "ghost story" - The Fog

If you thought "Jaws" was scarey, try the movie "Open Water". No fancy graphics or Hollywood monster sharks, but absolutely realistic situation with sharks. In fact, the movie is based on a real occurrence. I dive, or used to dive. I have dived often in shark-infested waters. I may be done with the northen California coastal waters. Spooked-out.

What is this Jaws movie you all are talking about? :p He He

I remember being real young and going to see a movie called Scanners with my father. Not really a scary movie, but a guys head exploded and i started crying. We ha to leave the theater, how embarressing!

As far as a movie really freaking me out, i would have to go with the first Nightmare on Elm Street.

    That or CNN. Scary.

I can't think of any that made me change my life, or do things differently. I went to see Jaws and the next day was out surfing with friends (though my sister wouldn't go anywhere near the water). It was nice having the beach almost to ourselves. I suppose "The Other" haunted my dreams for a while, but not to any significant degree. "The Omen" was another that caught my attention (though I liked to book better).

The Shining scared the &^(*&^* out of me. Other people still tell me it isn't that scary.

I remember scanners. Tried it myself on a few people I didn't like but it didn't work. What a bummer.

The First Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis...remember, "...you can't kill the boogey man".

Also...what was that movie where the phone rang and the voice said to the babysitter, "Did you check the children yet?" Later on, the police called back to the frantic babysitter and told her, "Get out of the house, the call is coming from inside!"

Has anyone seen "The Skeleton Key"? Oh my god what a twist. One heck of a nifty thriller once you figured it out. You MUST watch it a second time one you know what the twist is. You will be amazed at how things fall into place when you know what is going on with the characters.
