BTW, Andy...In response to the Obama comic...in the 80's a comic was published, by Marvel if I remember right, depicting the life story of Pope John Paul II.

Actually, I believe my kid still has a copy of the issue, that I bought back then, having since given all my comics to him. I bought it more as a possible investment, but didn't really expect it to raise in value much. If it did, fine...if it didn't, no biggie. I doubt it's worth much lol

I like Scotty's avatar too. In the movie that made the mask famous “V for Vendetta” Scotty would be associated with the repressive Right-wing authoritarian regime that was against V. and that is exactly how I think of him anyway. His Avatar reminds me of his adherence to a frantically evil oligarchy which he certainly desperately wants to see in this country.

    Your ideal leader Scotty!

    Hi IQ.
I know Ronnie was on a lot of magazines as an actor years before he was a governor or president and yes you posted alot of mags showing Ronnie afterwards but if you look at the overwhelming vast majority of them when Ronnie was active in politics they protrayed him in a low key negative manner to hostile attacks. Whereas if you look at obama you think he saved the world from pollution, world war, etc for he is pretty much shown as either god's gift to the world to the best think for a given population.

Which is a shame for it just chases people from the site. Makes you wonder if someone does not want the site to grow for they feel it is their private kindgom even if they do not own it.

Honestly, I posted the covers 'cause I thought you might like 'em, especially the older ones...but obviously I added my own comments. I consider that a compromise lol

Although I did post those Reagan covers for you to enjoy, they do serve a counterpoint purpose as well.

I've given the claims, made by righties in general and you in particular ...that Obama is seen as some sort of mesiah... serious thought over the last few months. I've paid attention to the possibility as I reviewed coverage of his speeches and any comments afterwards and have come to the conclusion the accusation is mostly baseless.

Most of the typical Obama supporter's views are that he is flawed, but better than the alternative...not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I've also been comparing those views to that of the righties, and again you in particular, in regard to Reagan.

IMO, Reagan is indeed highly regarded ...fervently even... to the point of becoming a rabid devotion to the man and his ideals. In that respect, that rabid devotion to an ideal, you may have a point regarding Obama, people believe in the cause...the difference that I am seeing is that the supporters of Obama don't appear to have elevated him to an idol status as much as righties have regarding Reagan himself.

So, yes...I did post those covers to counterpoint your argument, but only in part. I too find the covers of both Obama and Reagan interesting...even the photo-shopped ones lol

It takes a certain type of person to argue with extremists for any length of time. I'm more or less done with that myself.

With the "Ignore" button now available, there may be more interest in joining...but they need to know it's available...maybe Pete or Steve can post a thread on it to let people know how to ignore the extremists here lol

With more people, and a more diverse range of opinions, maybe "the sound of one hand clapping" will not be a necessity for rational conversation here. At the moment, it kinda is. ;)

As they say, “Kettles Meet Pots”. Actual conversation died a long time ago and those that feel that they had no part in that death are the biggest liars of all. I simply lost respect for the RW'ers here and now live to get under their skin. It must be working because they cannot even bear to respond. I win! :p

I think this site has lost those who come for a little friendly debate and those who just want to share their views with others that have the same viewpoints. Lets face people do not come here to be attacked by a moron. It is a turn off.

I am currently using the ignore button and I find that this site has become more enjoyable for me. Without it, I would have left for who needs to deal with nonsense when they are trying to relax.

The crocodile tears you guys shed are hilarious. When you guys hear things you don't like you ban together (Not you Andy) and decide that you can't win so you would rather take your ball and go home. Boo-Hoo! If you can't run with the big dogs, tuck your tails between your legs and run away. Typical close-minded RW behavior. You three couldn’t have given me a better gift. I can tear down your Right-wing nonsense with ease and that is why you run. You simply can’t take the heat. Please, please, never, ever respond or quote one of my posts again. You have no idea how much fun it is to say whatever I want without you guys being able to respond. You sure showed me and I can live with this for quite awhile. Even though you’re beginning to crack and even though I have proven that I could bait Davy easily, I prefer not to listen to your poorly articulated opinions in response to my highly intelligent posts. It’s not even my birthday but this is a wonderful gift and says so much about you three. Feel free to follow their nonsense Andy. Why not make it a foursome?

Typical Right-wing fanatics. They can't win on the issues so instead they sit around in a circular cheer leading nodding-fest. So sad, so sad.

OK this is getting silly, why can Romney not be in favor of "Traditional Marriage"? The views of his parents/grand parents/200th cousin 20 times removed have nothing to do with what he might or might not want to believe in. How many here believe explicitly in what everything your ancestors believed in? I know that I don't LOL or do you think that the man is incapable of making up his own mind on something like that?

Some members here think it's hypocritical for Romney to believe anything other than what his parents/grandparents, etc. believed in.

Their same foolish argument could be made about Obama's parents believing in heterosexuality. His parents obviously engaged in heterosexuality (but no homosexuality that's known), but Obama himself advocates heterosexuality AND homosexuality. Or, at least he advocated homosexuality at one time. But, then he didn't. But, then he did again... OK, I know it gets confusing... Oh, just close this thread.
