RNC Threatened by Documentary and Miniseries

I seems that Reince wants to curtail freedom of artistic expression if he and his party feel threatened by the content. OUCH! I say let the 2016 primary debates go exclusively to Fox, that way only the idiots that already watch that drivel will see them. Why expose the reset of us?

Kind of an ironic place to break the news, wouldn't you say?​

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is hopping mad at NBC's entertainment division ... because they are developing a miniseries about Hillary Clinton starring Diane Lane. He's so mad, in fact, that he wrote a letter to NBC Entertainment's president containing this threat:

If you have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC's Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote of the RNC stating that the committee will neither partner with you in the 2016 primary debate no sanction primary debates which you sponsor.​

It turns out that NBC is not alone. Priebus is also angry at CNN for planning a documentary on Clinton. So, naturally, he made the same threatto CNN President Jeff Zucker, using the exact same language.
Obviously, this is just the same old Republican tactic of picking a fight with the "libruhl media." It's meant to fire up their base, and maybe, if they're lucky, to get CNN or NBC to cave, giving Republicans a victory to brag about.
But this time there's a wrinkle: Priebus has linked the GOP's 2016 primary debate calendar to the outcome of the battle—and he's set a very short timeline for action. Assuming that the networks don't cave—and with just nine days before Priebus's Aug. 14 deadline, it seems unlikely that they will—then the RNC is on the verge of making Fox News its only cable TV debate partner for 2016.
That would be a pretty big change from 2012, when CNN and NBC (and its related properties) sponsored 11 of the 20 debates. Fox sponsored five of the remaining nine. Now, if the RNC follows through on its threat, Fox will certainly have more of the debates, even if there are fewer of them overall.
I guess this means that the GOP's "rebranding" initiative is all but dead. Instead of trying to put a fresh face forward, they're ripping a page from their old and tired chip-on-the-shoulder playbook. And instead of trying to reach out to seek new support, they're going to ban NBC and CNN from hosting debates in order to spend more time hanging out on Fox.
So if you thought that maybe 2013 was the year the GOP fever was going to break, you're out of luck. But hey, maybe when they've lost the popular vote in seven of the last eight presidential elections, they'll finally get a clue that something needs change. Right?

It's no secret that CNN, NBC and MSNBC are in the bag for Hitlery and the dims. I agree with you (since FOX is always at the top of the cable ratings) that having the debates only on FOX would just increase their viewership that much more. Hey, which side are you on here anyway!!!?!?!?

 

They chose Diane Lane to play Hillary? really? Ol' Hillary's gotta be pleased with the casting dept for that one!
I thought Rosie O'Donnell or Roseanne Barr were more likely choices, as they bear more of a resemblance to Hillary. Maybe Phillip Seymour Hoffman or Jack Black but not Diane Lane.

 

Priebus wants to commit extortion against the networks. It's the republican way, apparently. "See it our way, or something bad's going to happen to you"...just like their threats to refuse to fund Obamacare.

The only threats I have heard of "them" issuing are coming from the Democrats. So I repeat my questions - what do you mean?

He is just quoting the Texas wacko Ted Cruz. The guy makes Michele Bachmann seem almost sane, almost.
The meme goes, if Obama doesn't agree to de-fund Obamacare, which he doesn't have the power to do, the Repukes will shut down the government and therefore, .....wait for it..., Obama is shutting down the government by not agreeing to the Repukes threat. That is the current wing nut "logic" Dick rimmer is regurgitating.
Like I said, does he ever make any sense or have a point that he recently got from Fox that he can even articulate? Not so much. Just ignore him. He is a total waste of an internet connection.

 

It would seem, listening to the spewing of fog-of-war, BO has the authority to pick & choose which parts of the law he wants to follow. He can't agree to de-fund the mess but he can arbitrarily decide to delay the employer mandate? Hmmmmm

 

I know. I'm asking because I know it's a case of seriously twisted "logic", the same kind that allows some republicans to say "She wanted to be raped" or "She can't get pregnant if she doesn't want to get pregnant, woman know that kind of stuff" or "Reagan was a great president."

 

I just can't help that abortion Davy can't figure out civics. There are powers the president has and powers he doesn't have. He is not the king. Take a civics course at your local community college. You could use it.

 

In 2007, Fox produced a documentary critical of Hillary Clinton just before the 2008 election and coincidentally, released it on her 60th birthday. In 2013, the RNC is threatening CNN for producing a documentary on Hillary Clinton's life. Hum? That seems fair.
