I had a debate the other night with someone who thinks that people only commit revenge when they know the other party knows it's being done, otherwise there is no satisfaction. I say not so. So the question is: Is Revenge just as sweet if the party who is on the receiving end is not even aware?

I think it could be even sweeter. Just imagine watching the other party trying to figure out what's happening, and can't.;):D

I think so. As long as you know that what you did, worked, it could be as sweet or sweeter.

I don't personally like the idea of "revenge" as an act done purposely to someone as some form of "pay back". I'm more of a, karma will make things even some day, type of person, and I would prefer to either be there when it does or at least hear about it.

I don't have a problem with punishment or consequences.

Why even bother with revenge, karma will deal with that for you.

Most of us here believe that yes, but what about the ones who do not believe in karma, do you think most people are prone to hide their deeds or have the balls to face up and laugh in their faces ;)?

revenge is pointless, and just keeps things going.

as someone once said- it's better to just forgive the person, so that you can move on with your life. Seeking revenge just lets them have control over you.

If there is a karma- let it dish the revenge out. If there isn't- you're better off with letting it go.

    Totally agree!
Even if you've really revenged on sb, u may not necessarily feel relieved at all. Instead, u may get into another vicious circle of fearing to be revenged back! So, why bother!
Just like a saying goes:never trouble trouble until trouble troubles you.
Live in the moment: forget the unhappiness in the last moment and put away the anxiety for the next moment!

The problem with karma, is that it takes too damn long, and even then, I probably wont be there to enjoy it.

I much prefer to do what needs to be done, once I am certain of the transgression. And I prefer that they eventually come to figure out who was responsible. Revenge is delicious. And as the Turks say : It is a dish best served cold..

No I'm a firm believer in karma. It's gonna jump up and bite you in the ass I promise.
But as Sheik says sometimes karma takes to long. In those cases I like the receiving end to know precisely what I have done.
Revenge is useless unless you can enjoy it.

If you believe in Karma, wouldn't that keep you from seeking revenge? Out of fear that karma will in turn bite you in the butt as well?

Good point. Unless you think it's worth it.

If I stick a needle in your rear end, you will probably spin about and hit me. Thats reasonable.

It was my fault, that I assaulted you with the needle, and it was also my fault that I angered you so much, that you did something you would not ordinarily do.

In my opinion, you are blameless, wheras I would be entirely at fault, both for the action and the reaction.

I think that karma may well find me out, but probably, would pass you by.

That makes sense, but what I got out of the original thought in this post was a more of a:

You stab me in the ass with a needle. 2 weeks later I hit you.

The anger 2 weeks later is, while provoked by you, at that point my fault. Same circumstances, just a difference in time and thought between the original action and the reaction.

Although Karma would likely kick your butt for assaulting such a fine booty. :p

    I see your point.

The humiliation/pain/whatever, does not diminish with time for some people though. For some, there can only be release from anger with a similar act of malice.

What if karma is just using my revenge as their karmatic punishment. ;)

I don't think you're capable of judging anyone.. And would have most likely deserved it. ;)
