It's amazing how far hazelnuts in the shell can roll when you spill a bowl
of them on a hardwood floor.

    This calls for coffee.

They'll cause grief if you step on 'em, too. Like tryin' to keep yer
balance on a floor full of marbles. You'll find the last one under some
piece o' furniture sometime in July, too.

Ya know, those are supposed to be the same thing. But. There's the
things you crack the shells to get at, and they're chewy and sweet. Very
tasty. And then there's those white things, shelled and skinned, I guess,
that are brittle and relatively tasteless. And _those_ are supposed to be
    the same thing.

What do they do, boil all the flavor out or something?

I've never been able to figure it out.

Dunno, they are the same thing. There are varieties within. I guess I
could have had my brother pick some up in the orchard before he came
down this week. But the burlap bag from two years ago is still half
    full.

A perfectly acceptable (albeit "older") spelling.

Oh. So YOU'RE the guy who lives upstairs from me??? I always wondered

Ah, wait, isn't there a sense in which "mould" refers to forest top-soil,
and is therefore not an obsolete American or imported British synonym of
"mold"? could that perhaps be the semantic import I have missed here?

There _are_ usually a few leaves or leaf-bits kicking around here and
    there around here . . . .
