Public schools receive 'In God We Trust' poster donations as new Texas law requires their display

Texas school districts have begun receiving donated posters and framed copies of the national motto, "In God We Trust," that they will now be required to display in accordance with a new state law.

The law says a public elementary or secondary school or an institution of higher education "must" display a durable poster or framed copy of the motto in a "conspicuous place" in each building if the poster or framed copy is "donated for display at the school or institution" or "purchased from private donations and made available to the school or institution."

Some in the community object, including the Southlake Anti-Racism Coalition (SARC).

"SARC is disturbed by the precedent displaying these posters in every school will set and the chilling effect this blatant intrusion of religion in what should be a secular public institution will have on the student body, especially those who do not practice the dominant Christian faith," the community group said in a statement following the donation.

A child needs the comfort of knowing his place in this nation, neighborhood and school are a safe haven and positive messages go a long way towards reinforcing that for them… Would you approve of a Rainbow Coalition poster instead? Breitbart News tracked down some of LGBT Pride Month events across federal agencies, including National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Veterans Administration (VA), Library of Congress (LOC) and, the National Park Service (NPS):

The VA decided the best way to make sure veterans in the LGBT community feel comfortable seeking medical care was to put on a drag show, which traditionally is a parade of men dressing in women’s clothing and make-up.

National Public Radio (NPR) reported the VA was taking a “particularly fabulous approach” for its Pride Month event, organized by the White River Junction VA Medical Center in Vermont.

“Welcome to the gayest show on Earth,” the MC said to open the show in NPR’s report.

“But first, I just have to say the VA is here for its queers, and we are proud to serve all veterans,” the MC said.

— The CIA celebration was extensive and overseen in Washington, DC, by its new director, Gina Haspel, according to its website:
During our keynote event held at CIA Headquarters the first week of June, Director Haspel introduced Major General (MG) Tammy Smith, the highest ranking and first openly gay general in US history. Director Haspel described MG Smith, saying, “She refused to give in to discrimination, stayed riveted on her goals, and proceeded to blaze a trail that will go down in the history books. Today, Major General Smith is widely recognized as a pioneer in helping LGBT men and women to fully contribute—and fully belong—to the Army family.”

This event is one of several CIA activities celebrating Pride Month, including participation in the Capital DC Pride Festival and the 7th annual IC Pride Summit, of which CIA was a founder.

— The LOC said its collection of works by and about the LGBT community makes it a year-round celebrationbut in June the library featured discussions with authors who wrote books about homosexual romance.

“The library’s month-long celebration demonstrates how lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans have strengthened our country, by using their talent and creativity to help create awareness and goodwill,” the LOC website states.

— NASA joined the San Francisco LGBT Pride Parade in June and also had a booth. A description of the event said:

Please, stop by and say hello, take some funky photos using our infrared camera station. Learn about the autonomous helicopter that will soon be exploring the Red Planet, provided by our Aeromechanics division. Take a dive into a brilliant coral reef, brought to you by the Earth Science division. Get up close and personal with some flies and much more from our folks in the Biosciences division. Do not forget to grab a swag bag while supplies last.

— The National Park Service has a striking photographon its website of NPS employees — federal employees — marching with rainbow flags and celebrating the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City that was the scene of a violent clash between patrons and police in 1969 that is credited with starting the “gay rights movement” and was made a national historic monument during the Obama administration.

This year NPS, according to a blog on its website, is already looking forward to next year’s Pride Month:

June is Pride Month, and while Stonewall National Monument shares the unforgettable story of the 1969 riots year-round, this year kicks off a special countdown to World Pride in 2019. This annual event, which will be hosted by New York City in 2019, is the largest global Pride celebration. It will mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and its pivotal role as the birthplace of the modern lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer civil rights movement.

A very quick and very unscientific Google search tells me that 65% of the population is Christian. Of those, 62% are active members of congregations. All that aside, a full 95% of the population believes in some form of a higher power….. You are decidedly in the minority here.

Granted, I only gave eight years of my young life towards a formal education. But I am quite confident that I never saw a fellow student require any formal counseling due to a recital of the pledge or an uttered prayer….. Joe, this is an issue wholly created by members of the left to negatively influence young minds. Disobedience and chaos seems to loom large in molding young minds into the liberal mold. Would you disagree that many of these young Americans aren’t even proud to be American in the 21st century? I simply have to ask…… Is your concern for the young people…. You misrepresent the entire situation as a "Federally mandated celebration" How is it "Federally mandated"? How is it paid for by our taxes? How is it forced on Federal employees?

 

There are required events with mandatory attendance, depending on each agency policy. The government employees are not working at their assignments during attendance and these events are usually catered at rented facilities…. Paid for by the taxpayers. Mandatory posters (posted in every federal facility), daily emails, and research articles on subject created by federal employees and paid for by taxpayers. Joe, I have had seen this poster people of the month waste, fraud and abuse. Remember, there are 12 months in year so there are 12 different celebrations wasting taxpayers money.

 

If someone doesn’t like our national motto, he should call his Congressman, write a petition, go door-to-door for signatures, send mass e-mails, organize a group or yell from the highest mountain.

Until then, it’s the national motto (anyone can see it on our currency) and I see no harm in displaying the national motto.

Hate LGBTQ kids? I don't . . . I know many in the LGBTQ community, and accept them for who they are. Some of them I love very much as mentors, friends and relatives.

What I hate is Democrats self-servedly growing their big tent by planting the idea in kids that, rather than working their way through a naturally difficult, awkward, insecure and uncertain time in their lives, they should chalk up the emotions they feel to being a member of some supposedly underprivileged segment of society, rather than being perfectly normal feelings that we all wrestle with, and find ways to outlast until we finally feel normal again.

But that is exactly how the Democrat Party operates, and it works for them.

Until America figures out that it is being manipulated, this will not stop.

Your personal fantasies do not translate into the reality of the LGBTQ kids. Many kids, as young as 5, know that they are different and having a more inclusive society that doesn't exclude who these kids know they are will lead to less suicides, less confusion, and make them feel welcome. You want to erase them from existence by pretending that they do not have feelings just because they are LGBTQ. Worse yet, you have used them as pawns in your hatred of Democrats. How sick is that? Yes, Democrats welcome them while Republicans try to just make them go away. It'll never work, and your side will go down in history as being on the wrong side again. I suppose you're just getting used to that by now.
