OK! I have heard so many times that the Republicans are blocking everything that the Democrats are trying to do - despite the fact the the Republicans only control the House while the Democrats control both the Senate and the Presidency. So, if the Republicans are truly blocking everything, can someone please tell me how many bills the Republican House has passed and just how many of those the Democratic Senate has bothered to even act on? Just to make sure it is balanced, also, just how many bills the Democratic Senate has passed and how many of those the Republican House has acted on?

I agree. Certainly it can't be just the Republicans who are "blocking" bills. The Democrats must "block" on occasion, too. In fact, I hope that they actually do oppose some of the bills meandering through the House, since anyone who rubber stamps anything is equally as bad as someone who blocks everything.

My guess is if you see the actual figures, you might just change that statement a bit. Although I do a agree that mixed control generally produces the better governing. Just look at Clinton and Reagan.

It's quite possible that I would, but I wonder about that. Then again, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the idea of having to vote something into law to discover what was inside of it. I'm not sure who I blame more for that one--the person who thought it was okay to say that or the people who went along with the idea.

Ah, the wisdom & leadership of Nancy Pelosi! The left wanted this scheme passed & it passed...just one more example of BO getting everything he has ever wanted (and look where it's gotten us).

I guess no one want to take up my challenge so you are going to have to take my word for it. I actually counted them from the 3400+ bill introduced this year into the House. So far they have passed 76 bills that the Senate has not yet voted on. As of yesterday, the House had but one bill that the Senate had passed waiting for them to act upon. Since it was scheduled for a vote today, I assume they no have none. That I got from an interview of a Representative.

And here is Boehner's take on it - The forgotten 15

Now, the Democrats have multiple bills not even scheduled for a vote by Reid in the Senate and the Republican House has none of the Democrat's bills waiting for them to act. I will let you read into that as you wish. I am sure moen still thinks that it is the Republicans, but ......................

Maybe they can reaffirm that "In God We Trust" is our nation's motto, when nobody was challenging it, a third or fourth time. Whooppie!!!

BO seemed to have forgotten the nation's motto when he said it was "E Pluribus Unum"...maybe the same way he "forgot" there are 50 and not 57 states in the union?

I think it's funny that we are talking about Democrats and Republicans like they are two different groups. Sure they disagree on some small things but start talking about government transparency or campaign finance reform and see how their actions kinda look alike.

If that is your nitche, maybe they do. But if it is government control everyone's life versus freedom for the people, then they look significantly different.

Which side advocates government control of everyone's life and which one advocates freedom for the people?

Neither one of these parties are what they were originally. They aren't even what they were when my dad was young. The ideology of American politics has been ever increasingly right winged for thirty years. It's to the point now where Nixon looks like a Democrat.
