You guys obviously think socialism is communism when in fact it is not. Im not promoting it, I'm just saying its everywhere, even if you choose to think otherwise.

My struggle with this thread seems to be me caring what Russel Brand or you guys think. Never cared what Brand thought about anything and he is still more interesting than most of you guys. :p

However, the person with $2.89 to their name does not have the ability to back their words with actions that someone with $15 million and counting can.

So, when the $2.89 person talks about redistributing money and talks about living an egalitarian socialist ideal life, you don't know whether their actions would be the same if they had the ability to do it or not.

But, when the multi-millionaire says it but doesn't live it, you know he is full of bull sheet. In a socialist egalitarian society, there would not be individuals running around with $15 million dollars. There isn't that much money to go around the world.

He is a charismatic dude, though. Probably deeply troubled and disturbed, but charismatic. lol

There is $223 Trillion USD in Global Wealth and the Earth has a population of 7 billion which makes the per capital wealth of the Earth $31,857 USD.

So, if we had a nice egalitarian, socialist society, we would all have $31,000 in wealth.

Mr Brand apparently has an estimate worth of $15,000,000. Good Grief! He is hogging 480 other people's potential wealth all to himself! ;)

    BTW:

Under economic theory, Gross Domestic Product per capita exactly equals the Gross Domestic Income per capita. Earth's Gross Domestic Product per capita = $10,170.68 USD (2012) so Earth's Gross Domesting Income per capita = $10,170.68 USD

If your household has an income of more than about $10,000 per person, you are not paying your fair share. ;)

If you can pull off a re-start, it won't take long before the rich are rich again & the poor are poor again.

Yes and no. It wouldn't necessarily be all the same rich getting rich again. For example, if you took Michael Jordan's 650 million away and left him with 30 grand, he is unlikely to accumulate that kind of wealth again. Probably similar with Bill Gate's billions.

But, yes, someone would take their places and there would be a new stratification of wealth that would begin pretty much immediately.

That is why you would have to have a big government with an overly complicated tax system that can continuously redistribute wealth. Of course, we know that would never happen in America! ;)

OK just got to this one and I have to ask why on earth would you want to lower the tone of this fine forum by posting a interview by Russell Brand to it?

It's refreshing to hear a Liberal/Progressive express their unvarnished vision for society instead of hiding behind a bunch of rhetoric about how they're "here to help".

Frankly, with the dishonesty of policies like voter ID, phony concern over women's health issues in order to stop women from seeking abortions, pretending they actually care about Medicare, feigning anger about the ACA website after voting 40 times to defund the law, naming bills that do exactly the opposite of what they are named, speaking in coded racist terms, sponsoring bills that they themselves refuse to vote for, and countless other deceptions, I'm surprised you'd even recognize honesty in anyone after towing the Right-wing mantra as religiously as you do.

Yep, you need to look no further than our resident far left loon as a prime example of one who is terrified to say aloud what he believes. Even though he celebrates everytime there's an incident of gun violence he is to chicken sh*t to tell us whether or not he advocates the elimination of private gun ownership.

    Yet another fact-filled retort.

I'll ask again... Do you have a plan (other than the one expressed by Russell Brand) to balance the budget and significantly reduce the national deficit...in our lifetime?
