.okay, in an effort to play by Drusus' rules and keep his thread going... I supported Mike Huckabee for Prez: 1) FairTax- Huck realizes that our current tax structure is the root of most of our woes. The FairTax returns control of our money to us and brings into the tax base million upon millions of folks who have never contributed. 2) Anti-abortion- This is important to me. I believe anyone who would condone the murder of our young ones or tries to justify it as a "choice" or deflect the truth by calling it a moral issue has serious issues. 3) Compassionate Conservative- Most issues are black & white but we have to have a heart when dealing with some of the unintended consquences. 4) War- Regardless if you thought it was a good idea or not, we now have a moral obligation to finish what we started. Huck understands the importance of a strong defense and realizes a pre-emptive option should exist. 5) Constitution- The rights belong to the states, champions our 2nd Amendment right which seems to be the one most libs feel doesn't count.
So basically you want pro life to let the kids grow up and then kill them in a useless war? stainless
Nope. No useless wars. Just wars to kill the terrorists before they kill us again. Now, here, have a nice big serving of Koolaide
Just messin with ya Stainless, they say " If your under 30 and are not a Liberal, you have no heart.....( Barry Goldwater
Ok, the war may not be totally useless, but no matter how long we firght, there will be terrorist.....kind of a useless fight IMO. BTW: I wasn't tryna bash you when I said my first statement. It is just that most people that are pro-life are for war and for death penalty...and I find that confusing. stainless
I'm for Obama. Here is why: Obama wants to take things in a different direction, which I think is good. I actually find it unbelievable people won't vote for him. As bad as we have it now it is suprising that people want more of the same crap. Obama is not for drilling oil, he is pro-choice (which is big, IMO, I feel that no man should have the right to be pro-life), and has some nice ideas on how to stimulate the economy....whether his ideas will work or not is a different thing. Anyone who gets in right now is going to have hell in there, but Obama is the way to go IMO. stainless
lol That's pretty much why I worded it like that. To leave it open ended. I have little to no enthusiasm about either side (and am actually surprised that anyone does). I really think the choices are quite poor on each side. So, I am just going with how I feel about each pair of candidates.
And the people who are so against putting criminals to death have no problems supporting the killing of unborn babies. Confusing world, eh?
I have no problem with the notion of killing people. I do have a problem with targeting innocents and you can not get any more innocent then an unborn child.
technically, an unborn child is even existing, therefore it isn't killing. Besides..I don't really have points...I just think it is wrong for any one to decide what any women wants to with her body. stainless
Well then if the unborn child isn't living why do we spend tons of money keeping premature children alive when they come out early. something to ponder. When you are a father to be and see for the first time your baby moving around during the ultra sound you will know that you have been mislead and misinformed as I did when that time came. I used to believe it was a womens right to her body until I realized that the women is carrying a living body inside of her and what about that baby's rights. It is murder of the worse kind as far as I am concerned.
It's not a decision about what a women wants to do with her body...that's a smokescreen thrown up by the baby killers to try to take the humanity out of it. It;s a case of murdering a baby in the womb. If ending the life while still in the womb is acceptable to you, when should it stop? At 3 months? 9 months? 3 years? Look at the issue for what it really is- ending human life...an innocent life that gets snuffed out without even having a chance. Don't fall for the empty arguments about choice or morality. You don't get a choice when to end any other innocent life, why should a defenseless child be treated differently?
I think if the fetus doesn't have brain function, its less objectionable...and it should be heavily regulated and using it as birth control should be criminal. I believe it is a very distasteful thing....and most women do not want to do it once let alone twice. I also believe a young woman who is already struggling with it is not helped in any way by rabid people screaming in her face calling her a murderer... Some people just dont know that how they are, how they go about things, abrasive, hyperbole, and insulting, is often the worst way if they honestly cared to make a difference. I have always been on the fence and certainly late term is right out...I dont see very early term as murder, though my mother does because even without form and function, she believes it has a soul. I do not believe in a soul so I go by brain function instead...There is a word for an unborn child, its a fetus, the reason being is that it hasnt been born...early enough and it is just a clump of cells, it cannot exist outside the womb until much later. One thing I have often found interesting is how some people are so damn sure about so many things, while I so often seem to see both sides and get stuck in the middle I certainly dont see it as black and white like so many do...I dont see a collection of cells with no form or function, no organs no brain, etc... as a 'baby'. So I do see how earlier term abortion wouldnt be 'killing babies' as people like to call it, sounds more shocking than abortion I guess. But I do see problems with the whole process.
Agreed with most. The women are the victims as well. If anyone should be screamed at it is the doctors that perform it as a "sole source" or should I say soulless source of income. Morning after pill should be enough for rape, etc.
you didn't read my whole post....when in the womb, it is not life yet.. also, IT IS a decision... let me give yo an example: a 11 year old girl gets raped and gets pregnant as a result....so since it is not her decision she should have the baby according to you...OH, BTW: she isn't even fully developed to take care of a baby....and she has a better chance of dying because of it.. but, hey we can always leave it up to God...according to the fundies that have yet to provide me with an answer on why He can't heal a freakin amputee stainless BTW: Please quote me where I said I was for killing at all...
This is quite a emotive subject but I have to ask how many of you have lost a child? We did, Nikki had a ectopic pregnancy that very nearly killed her if the Dr's had not have performed a abortion she would have died, were we wrong to do this? Do you have any idea as to just how hard that decision was and how she felt (never mind how I felt) afterwards, unless you have lived through it I doubt it very much. I dont agree with abortion as a general practise but I do think we need to adress the root cause of the problem, to many young people have no idea about simple birth control ie the pill/condoms In the senerio highlighted by Stainless I would be in favour of the abortion, the child might well have been to scared to tell anyone about what happend to her so the morning after pill woudnt be a option. I also agree that the morning after pill is a good idea to give to rape victims as long as it is the morning after, for some the shame of what has happend is to great for them to go straight to the police/hospital, should these then be forced to bring to term a rapists child? Abortion on demand certainly not but the need for it is there when needed, and I also believe that there are time limets allready in place so that you coud not terminate a life at let me say 6 months into the pregnancy, so the argument about were to draw the line is allready in place (over here in the UK the law says that you can not terminate a pregnacy after 20 weeks except in extreem circumstances).
Yeah, because we all know that no girl has ever been kidnapped, raped, and then held for a few days..(and then hopefully found alive) so what do you do in this situation? stainless
Firstly, the rape/incest concern is always thrown up to deflect attention from the real issue. These abortions account for a vey miniscule number (statistically insignificant) of the abortions performed in this country and, yes this is most certainly a gray area. As for the case of the mothers life or the babies life, well now it becomes a medical issue & my heart goes out to anyone in that situation. I would have made the same decision D'Orc & his wife made. Stainless, The vast majority of abortions are done as birth control & nothing more- the pro-abortion side tries to take the life/death part out of the equation wth smoke screens & see to have fallen prey. Just because you can't communicate with the baby or see it's facial expressions or verify that it has a soul doesn't make it any less a life. Simple biology establishes the fact life begins at conception. In my opinion, the treatment of the most defenseless among us is a true indication of a person.
