The only rule to this thread is you cannot say a WORD about the other guys. Pretend its a job opening and you are recommending this guy for the job. Tell us the merits of the person and why he, objectively, should be chosen...I dont go into a job interview saying 'I am better than the others you are considering'...I just go in there to point out my qualifications. After all, it IS a job, an important one but a job all the same.

I will start and I will be brief. I will probably write in Ron Paul.

I do not agree with everything he says but he is bright, informed, he seldom uses rhetoric but instead spends his time identifying problems and real steps he thinks should be taken to resolve them. He speaks his mind, his ideas seem genuinely his own as are his words he uses to put the ideas across. He is consistent, he doesnt seem to change his tune to fit the audience he is trying to get votes out of.

In the end he is for much of what I am for...a deconstruction of the bloated federal government, expanding the two party system, out of Iraq, stay in Afghanistan and continue to fight those who attacked us, Never to raise taxes, and I believe it, abolish the income tax, he opposes tighter gun control, non-interventionist on the global stage, no nation building, he would stop payments to many nations that has its hands out including Columbia and fueling the war on drugs....oh yeah...his plans for the monetary system and economy are dead on IMO. Small government, drastic cut backs in government spending across the board, less taxes....and back to the gold and an alternative to fiat political money, hyperinflation caused by fractional banking....this is just to name a small fraction of reasons. I honestly feel in him we will have an able administrator and executive...he certainly does not lack experience, he is clean, he served, he is very qualified.

He knows economics...well...He would look to keep the federal government out of our homes, beds, and personal lives leaving more to the states. He would honestly work to ensure that nothing which is not strictly constitutional passes...he is Dr. No.

Best of all...he is about as honest as a politician gets, I have found no instances of him back scratching, he seems in office less for gain and more as a calling. He seems to have little to hide and seldom backsteps, what he says he almost always means...and what I feel is honesty is the biggest reason I like him. I remember the debates, he was the only genuine person on stage.

So I will throw my vote away for Ron Paul....a person I can vote for without feeling a bit dirty...:)

Pretty hard to argue with that Drusus, Ron Paul actually looks pretty good.

I have my bones with McCain, but here goes.

First of all, McCain understands the need to defeat the terrorists and is not an appeaser or a withdrawl wimp. He has supported our troops from day 1 and his surge plan has worked beyond all expectations. His strong military background is important to me. He is a NAVY man, I have a daughter in the NAVY.

As a christian, he has been anti abortion all his life and voted against baby murder every time, understanding that life begins at conception.

He warned against the Fanny/Freddie crisis. He has a proven track record of bucking his party and brokering deals with the Dems, even when I disagree with him.

He has never voted for a tax increase and has promised to make the Bush cuts permanant.

His choice of Palin as Veep shows me he will bring along strong conservative ideals to the ticket, and that matters to me because it reflects his thinking and direction, and that will be important when the next POTUS has to appoint federal judges and new supremes.

He is not an America hater, he does not blame us for the 9/11 attacks and he is not a radical leftist Muslim pretending to be a Christian, he has belonged to the North Phoenix Baptist Church forever. I like the fact that he has no known terrorists as friends and mentors.

Hey, lets not lose sight of the fact that Obama is going to bring change. He promises it. We have no freaking idea what that change is going to be, and I don't think he does either, but hey, change is on the way.

Palin, I know she is on the VP ticket but lets face it the office of the President can really take its toll and I do not see a long term for John it he is elected. Why Palin, for basically she is a normal person who got disgusted with what she saw at every level she was at on the ladder of life and decided to do something about it. A real citizen activist and not a professional politican who mapped out his/her life by making deals and selling out along the way for it is the only thing they will ever do.

The case you made for Paul is the same case most people would make for their favorite candidate, regardless of who it is. I can picture Obama or McCain supporters substituting their candidates name for Paul's and being every bit as convinced they are right as you feel you are.

Absurd, Nobody could make the same case because Ron Paul certainly does not stand for the same things as McCain, Obama, or most republicans and democrats so no, one could not say the same things about McCain. Unless McCain has suddenly started to oppose the war on drugs and Iraq and wants to eliminate the FED...they arent the same people with the same stances and the same past...so it just absurd to say what I have written is generic, if you have looked even slightly into Ron Pauls career you will see that everything I have written is true of him...I deliberately tried to harp on many of those unique things... No shifty behavior in the past for Paul...he has never cost the tax payers money...he has always voted no against raising taxes, against Iraq, against anything that would make the government bigger...these are not election talking points but truth...I dont need to use rhetoric, the man has real creditials and nothing to hide. He is at the bottom of the list for PAC money, most of his money comes from individuals and believe it or not, military. He serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee; the Joint Economic Committee; and the Committee on Financial Services as Ranking Member of the Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and Technology subcommittee, and Vice-Chair of the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee....thus the statement he KNOWS the economy and monetary policy....no deer in the headlights when asked what is wrong with our economy, who is to blame and how do we fix it. These are specific qualifications, things that cannot be said about others because others have a different history and record in office...I could list much much more to illustrate everything I have said better, things that certainly cannot be said about any other person running but I wanted to keep it brief... there are no secrets, his life and career are public record and one can easily and quickly confirm what I have said and read more about his stance and what he has done. understand the concept?

Its just dishonest to say that McCain or any other politician is quite the same as Ron Paul...or that one could replace another persons name on his past, his career, his actions in congress, his actions in his personal life, his stances, and it would even be close to the same.

This might be too difficult of an assignment for you, maybe you should just go back to starting countless threads bashing Obama and calling other people morons and sit this one out. :)

"Special interests have replaced the concern that the Founders had for general welfare. Vote trading is seen as good politics. The errand-boy mentality is ordinary, the defender of liberty is seen as bizarre. It's difficult for one who loves true liberty and utterly detests the power of the state to come to Washington for a period of time and not leave a true cynic"

Watch the blood pressure there.....your rabid response merely proves my point. Everyone thinks their candidate is the best choice or they would be siding with a different one, right? Each one of us is guilty of seeing more good in our guy & more bad in the other candidates- your response is proof of it. Your view of Ron Paul is skewed by your support of him...most voters in th US obviously did not share your opinion of the loon.

Ron Paul was too honest, and too knowledgeable about economics to have ever been elected. Frankly he is a hard money man, and believe you me, there are lots and lots of people on Wall Street and Main Street that would rather have free money. This money battle has played itself out in American politics since the 1830's when Andrew Jackson took on the Bank of the United States, and has reared it's head over and over again in many guises.

Free money is what got us into this current crisis. The Free Money men controlled the government regulators and Wall Street, and you guessed it, the financial "wizards". Yep, the country got free money, and now we are going to get reamed up the bunghole and out the ears to pay for it.

"Brother, can you spare a dime?"

Nothing I have said about Ron Paul is false or biased as far as I can tell save for the fact that I clearly state I agree with his most of his stances on things, anything said about what he has done is simply a matter of public record. If you disagree...if you find anything having to do with his stances, his consistancy, and what I have said he has done, start another thread if you would like to disect my post and correct anything I have said that you can prove false....otherwise, be a sport and recommend a person or move on. Obviously I support the guy or I wouldnt have recommended him, who other people support in the US has nothing at all to do with the validity of any statements I have made. Bash him all you like, go nuts, just do it in another thread please as I want this thread to be only about why someone is voting for a person, I dont care what you think about why levelheaded recommends McCain or someone else wants Obama...I dont care why you DONT support someone or if you think I am biased. I only care why you think the person you are voting for is the right person for the job without striking out at anyone, one should only refer to the person and his qualifications, his stances, his past performance, and issues, and not anyone else that might be running. If you cant or wont do that...no problem...you dont have to participate in the thread.

See, there you go again. You seem to be looking for a fight where there isn't one. I never disputed anything you said about Ron Paul...I've actually met the man...I like him & I could probably even consider voting for him if it wasn't so important to vote against another candidate at the moment. Your defense of Ron Paul merely is an indication of your support for the guy, the same as a McCain supporter bellowing his praises or an Obama supporter singing his praises. Diehard Paul supporters like to think they are so different but they really aren't...he's got a message that appeals to you...Bravo!

Which is the point of this thread...to say who you support and why...I never said I didnt support the guy...If you are saying that support for someone is subjective to whether you agree with what he says and does...that just stating the obvious. I said why I support him in no uncertain terms...which was again the point of the thread...I also did not mention anyone else, just what I think HE has done to recommend him for the office.

This thread is for people to post who they support and why...without using another person, only on what YOU see are his merits and qualifications...if you dont want to do that...no problem...move on.

I am voting for the pair who seem less dishonest and less out of touch with reality. Aka...the lesser of two evils.

Which is unfortunately how it has to be. We cannot be idealists as much as we would like to be.

If I was a dem. I would think this must be hussinbiden and if I was a repo I would think this must be palinmcain and if I was an independent I would just think lesser of two evils.
Could be a very political or psychological post. You were military right Stu-Joe, airforce is where the brains are at so I go with psycho for I can relate to that.

    ting for the pair.....

I agree andy...lesser of two evils could be either one depending on ones point of view. The only two who even gave it a try was Level and Andy....This thread failed miserably... :)

thread got two pages and perhaps more life to it. Not bad for a thread that pretty much asked for no bashing an unusual request for politics.
