"They are just as much criminals as the hookers and junkies"...... Yeah right....all this comes from Graig A who quotes Jerry Garcia, the biggest dope head that ever lived.....wow what a hero.... No wonder you think the way you do.
Actualy Police coruption is worse these are people who are suppose to be paragons of the law, now if you can not see that! And taking a free doughnuts and coffee is corruption
What does that even mean? I never claimed he was my hero. And he was the second biggest dope head, not the biggest. The way I think? I think people who are down on thier luck should get a lending hand. What a terrible thing to think. I think that law and order should be upheld be people of a certain caliber. How retarded is that! I must be dreaming.
No he means that the Police should conform to certain standard, if you want to try twisting his words please do remember that it goes both ways, are you standing up for Police corruption do you find it ok for Police officers to break the law? Is this what you are advocating?
Hey De Orc and Graig why don't you address YOUR police dept. about its corruption. My police dept. is outstanding and pay for their donuts. You two guys have a serious problem when it comes to the police. Whats a matter did you get a ticket recently ? If you or your family ever have a serious problem work it out by yourself, don't call the police......but you will because nobody else will help you.
Free coffee and donuts!! A crime? C'mon now. If the officer intentionally breaks the law then yes, but what a business owner does is their own choosing and last I checked, handing out freebies to customers isn't illegal and shouldn't be compared to serious crimes. I'm glad I live in an area where police officers are our friends, neighbors, protectors, and people our children look up to. Never once have I ever looked at police as criminals for getting a free cup of coffee And I truly feel sorry for people that do. A crime? If that's the case then probably everyone in my community and everyone in this country, should turn themselves in. I think that's why most users choose not to participate here. Many times replies are so off base and "out there" that I feel they are posted just to start an argument for entertainment purposes.
Out there? If you have a chance go to your nearest police station or sherrif's office, etc. and ask if you can see thier code of conduct rules. I bet you gratuities are something that is forbidden. And the original post claimed that these policemen would patrol that certain truckstop and would receive free coffee and doughnuts. That is a gratuity. Buckwheat you must have some insight, to actually know every officer, sargeant, undercover, and detective in your area to know positively that they are all clean. I'm not saying they are dirty. Got that? I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE ON THE TAKE!. But to make a claim like you did, wow, congrats.
Buckwheat would you mind expounding on why I have a problem with the police? you made sarcastic comments that I responded to. Now would you care to show me were I have made any nasty comments about any police force that does it's job without taking bribes? If you cant then kindly shove a sock in it.
You say you responded to my sarcastic remarks......Am I the only one who has made sarcastic remarks ?? I've read just about every thread here and there is one certain party that jumps on everybody that doesn't agree with him but you will not say anything to him. Whats a matter are you scared ? I think you are........and you call yourself a moderator...BULLS#$& !!!!
Wow guys all this over coffee and donuts. Does make me curious as to what any certain police department has in their code of ethics about freebies though. BTW the cops didn't patrol our lot. Just having them parked there was helpful though. Coffee and donuts was our choice. I worked for Speedway for a while at one point. Stations with car washes wash cop cars for free. The cop just signs a ticket for it.
What does that even mean? I never claimed he was my hero. And he was the second biggest dope head, not the biggest. The way I think? I think people who are down on thier luck should get a lending hand. Hey Buckwheat I think he has shed some light as to who the biggest dope head is. Craig I guess you are all for those big corporations getting the bail out money, as these were just people down on their luck? Cops getting doughnuts and free coffee, ooh they will be the demise of every small business, people by the way who would never qualify for bail out money. If you would like to debate law or laws that should be followed to the letter, well I agree there are lots of useless laws still on the books. Spitting on sidewalks, riding a horse while intoxicated just to name a couple. We have had one President that we know of, Senators and congressmen that have not lived up to the desired moral code that people might expect of elected officials. Bottom line the common thread is we are all human and no matter how are hard we try, we are still unable to walk on water at the end of the day. This in no way means I condone these actions, or accept this behavior to be common place, however in all the world the best and safest place to be is still the United States. If you feel contrary by all means do us all a favor,Move there.
Were the tickets turned in to the department for remittance? Thats how we filled our cruisers with gas.
You figured me out pal. You must be a detective. At least you concede that police taking gratuities IS illegal. Thanks. That was my point.
Really is that how you want to see it? I see you are an over critical pro legalizing pot smoking, paranoid chicken little "The sky is falling" and I can bring the police department to its knees with nothing more than a jelly filled pastry and a cup of joe. Wow how do you ever gather the courage to go out side the confines of your safe little rubber room. I know this is a stretch for you but I will give it a shot. Offering an officer coffee and a doughnut is the same as putting 20,000 dollars into a campaign fund to get this officer elected as sheriff, really? I am tiring of going the rounds with you on this matter, such a petty little person. Thank you for showing me the error of my ways. Now I can sleep knowing that as long as I get everyone to stop giving those Police Officers coffee and doughnuts all the worlds problems will be solved. It really will be the world that John Lennon spoke about in his song "Imagine" . Hey Craig go smoke some more and pass out, stay in your safe little place and let sober people identify the bad guys.
I'm glad you understand. Now I will consider you one of my allies on this site. Good to have you on the team.
Let me ask you all this question, if it is against official Police guidelines for officers to take gratuities of any sort then were do you draw the line? is it ok to commit a minor offence? you know take a doughnut today perhaps a steak next week then a few beers with your buddies at the local bar. Were exactly do you draw the line? Police departments have standards for a reason and if you cant see that then I feel sorry for you. Attacking me wont change the simple facts of the matter, and yes I do call myself a Moderator if you dont like it then go play on another forum, is that simple enough for you to follow.
So you want to stir the pot some more okay I will oblige. The simple truth of the matter is it makes no difference. I believe it is totally okay for an officer of the law to have coffee and a doughnut.Others will say that is to far that is accepting gratuities and totally unfair. Lets reword the question and make it even more interesting. Do you live up to the moral code and standards that you expect Police Officers and elected officials to live up to? Or how about this question do you feel since we have Police Officers (judicial system) and elected officials that you are relieved of your responsibilities as good citizens? For the record this question is for everyone, but do find the similarities of the questions and the actions of the moderator to be ironic.
I think it is up to the business. It is not like the police go in there, with the guns aimed at the workers, and threaten to shoot if they don't get free stuff. Seriously, this society has gotten so sick, to get angry at people who protect our community, for getting some free doughnuts? De Orc, on another thread you were talking about how brave the fire fighters and police men and women were, so muchly so that they deserved a free handout when it came to medicaid, and now you are saying they don't deserve some free breakfast every now and then? Seriously? My line is drawn when the expect things, cops don't just go into an establishment and don't pay, the waiter or manager will say "on the house" or "officers don't pay". My line would also be drawn when they receive things that aren't necessary, like walking into a BESTBUY and getting a free TV, that is ludicrous. But getting some breakfast and dinner here and there? Doesn't cross the line one bit.
You guys are wrong. Its that(hold on, I gotta light a doob)simple. Firemen and cops were mentioned in the health care thread because they were compared to GIs, who get free medical. And fireman arent cops. When you take an oath to uphold the law your are supposed to do just that. And some cops do ''just walk into an establishment and dont pay''. Ive seen it. And society should get angry at cops who take graft. They are getting paid for thier service as a cop. They arent doing it for free, ya know.
