I just read the story about the 4 servicemen who disappeared and were found murdered "execution style" in the back of an IPD (Improvised Prison Device) aka SUV. Good to see that the enemies POW system is so much better than ours. That must be why it never comes under scrutiny. BTW, did you see where one of the Iraqi prisoners broke his leg playing soccer at Gitmo? Do I smell lawsuit? Probably won't be long before we hear he was mistreated during the fast break!
O.K. You're in Iraq and you're an insurgent/terrorist/Iraqi nationalist fighting for the shia, the sunni, money, Iran, Syria, whatever. You somehow manage to capture a couple of American soldiers. You either, A. Bring them to your prison facility B. Trade them for some of your prisoners C. Let them go once you've disarmed them D. Shoot them in the head What choice do you really think they have here. As much as we'd love to have this be a "conventional" war and kick their tails all over the Middle East, we have to fight the war we have. If you were in their place and made any other decision than D, you'd be a damn lousy fighter or most likely a dead one. As awful as it seems to us, they have been forced to fight this way because it is all that is left to them at this point. Maybe you'd like to fly on over and give them tips on the proper way to conduct a war. That's how naive your indignation sounds.
Moen, You're correct. When American paratroopers landed in Normandy during WW2, they routinely executed any German soldier who surrendered to them. I confirmed this with someone I know who was there. His comment was, "Where would we put them?"
Nobody likes to see something like this happen to their own soldiers. You're right that it even happens in what we think of as conventional wars. However, it is a tactic that will do little to further their cause and only anger those that seek them out. Then those animals can kiss their sorry a**es goodbye.

It is time to stop taking prisoners there, just like we did in post WWII Germany. If they were found plotting against the allies they were drug into the street and summarily executed
Geesh bqcoins. The world went ballistic when we used such horrible tactics as parading them in their underwear. What would they do if we actually decided to execute one of our prisoners or did as you say? There are those that actually feel the insurgents treatment of their captives is a justified procedure and should be accepted without question, but underwear.....that's totally wrong! Good Question? What to do in with these "insurgents"?? Actually, "insurgents" is a PC term so the media can avoid do the proper description: "islamic jihadists". Here's what I suggest... I am fascinated by this idea of wrapping dead muslim terrorists in pigskin and lard. This is what the Russians — who understand far better than Americans how to deter muslim terrorists — are doing with Chechen terrorists. Remember...it is was islamic Chechen terrorists who killed all of those children in Belsan. The idea is that some Muslims believe they cannot enter heaven if they're wrapped in pork, which may be the other white meat here but is the unclean meat over there. Which is just another example of the growing rift between our two civilizations, as many Americans consider being swaddled in pork products to be heaven itself. Eternity in bacon… mmmmm. ...or we could just leave. The US has accomplished the goals set out at the start of the war; to clear the area of WMDs and depose Saddam. When we leave, the "insurgents" will probably kill the al Qaeda fighters among them since they barely get along and their only unifying force is mutual hatred of us. Whatever else happens there is of no concern to us. We gave them a country. Lets see if they can keep it.
