The established policies of America serve as the baseline for determining where the Democrat Party is trying to swing the pendulum from where it presently resides.

Using world politics as a baseline is a cop out.

 

Perhaps we misunderstand each other. I'm trying to say "Leftism", "socialism", "communism" and the like are words with meaning. Therefore if you're going to say the Democratic party is any of those things, you better be prepared to say so in a larger context.

Of course they're trying to swing things "left" relative of conservatives. I'm just not convinced they're interested real red leftist policy.

The thing you find about successful people is that they do have grand pie in the sky visions. It serves several purposes. Most importantly it gives a sense of purpose to those tasked with bringing the grand vision to fruition. Secondly it offers a sense of optimism to those that stand to gain something from the vision. In this case all Americans would stand to gain security so it effectively offers a sense of optimism to all. And that’s not a bad thing in a nation at odds with one another.
