I agree that Reagan's trickle down theory, that every republican seems to flaunt, did not really work. That has already been proven. The things Obama has done, are not working fast enough, so we really don't know if what Obama has done works or not. It did stop the bleeding. Now a lot of these republicans just have to much of a past and when they open their mouth, they say something different then they said before. No matter who the republican candidate is, the base will support them. It is the independent voters that win or lose an election, not the base of either party.

I think of the differences between Reagan's "trickle-down" theory and programs that give aid to the poor and middle-class (trickle-up) like this: Trickle-down buys dry-ice, hires a plane, and seeds the clouds to produce rain. The rain produced is spotty and insignificant, and the land below dries-up. Trickle-up installs a sprinkler system whereever it is most efficient to do so and the land thrives.

With trickle-down, most of the money for the seeding project is sucked up by the bigger landowners who opted out in exange for the money instead. They didn't need it to rain, and they don't care if the land dries-up. Why should they care if the land dries-up? They own massive inland lakes and have access to all the water they want, and more.
