I've been listening to the radio today...both righty & lefty shows. It seems it boils down to this:

Conservatives hope the real Palin shows up while the Dems are hoping the real Bideb does not.

VP debates are always painful to watch as the candidates are not talking for themselves. It always makes them look like lap dogs and this debate was no different in that.

I think the Gov did pretty good. I can absolutely see why she won as a Mayor and Governor. I would have voted for her. She seems like real people. She has some rambles at times but I really do think that has a lot to do with the fact that she has to be very careful to speak for her boss and not herself. Same with Sen Biden, of course, but he obviously has been playing the political game longer on a national stage as opposed to her 5 weeks.

I can't say either 'won'. Neither did the things that probably both Pres candidates worried about (major gaffs, etc) so that works out to a tie on my score sheet.

One thing...the term 'Maverick' has been grating on me since the third or fourth (out of a thousand times) the 'Original Maverick' TV ad aired here. I cringe whenever I hear it. Literally make a face every time. It just sounds dumb.

I agree to both. And, I think Gwen Ifill did a much better job in letting the candidates retain the focus of the debate than Jim Lehrer did.

    I watched most of it.

Palin did better than expected and I also think neither blew the other away.

Palin won't change my views and Biden probably won't change other views. Gotta agree with that.

There were a few moments where I think Biden didn't answer a question and same with Palin.

Being biased, obviously, here's what stuck out in my mind concerning Palin.
She talked WAY TOO MUCH about Alaska and Wasilla. No offense to Alaskans but the U.S. is bigger with a lot more people.

She also made an effort to be cute. I saw the little winks and nose scrunches.

I've had very little to say about Palin actually but in the long run I think McCain made a big mistake with her.
Being cute and a "Washington outsider" is not going to instill a lot of confidence in a lot of people.

Yes, many of us are pretty fed up with anything that comes out of Washington. However, in these times, taking "hockey mom" into the White House is even scarier.

I think the dems would have been better off with a Biden Obama ticket...

I think if most anyone but John McCain was the Republican nominee, Gov Palin would probably be the ideal VP pick.

I felt like I was watching a Mousekateer talking about politics. There was just a mismatch with seeing Palin and hearing the words come out of her mouth and then thinking about the topics. It was just odd.

I think it was a pretty soft debate both by the moderator and Biden. They took it easy on Palin and didn't attempt to ruffle her or throw her off her talking points. I would hope that the leaders of Iran, Russia, and North Korea would extend her the same courtesy but I sort of doubt it.

The expectations for Palin were very low and I think that she met them. God help us all.

God help us all when either of these 2 teams get in the White House.

Can you tell me specifically which "facts" Biden lied about? I think that there were plenty of verbal gaffs that didn't necessarily amount to lies but rather a poor understanding of the history of events.

I think Palin is fine as the governor of Alaska but she doesn't belong in the second highest office in the land. I'm not all that worried that it will actually happen but it is still a pretty scary thought.

I've worked with people that are in jobs that are far over their heads and it never works out well for anybody. And....irregardless isn't a word, its just regardless.

It just strikes me sad that how simple minded people think that corrupt experience is more importent then moral values.

Neither Obama nor Palin are ready to be President right now. The difference, of course, is that Palin is going to have time to see the job done first hand and learn from it and have a cabinet and staff already in place IF she ever has to be the President. Obama will not have that luxury.

But, really, this election is like a football game between the Detroit Lions and the St Louis Rams. One team is bound to find a way to win. But, it won't make them suck any less.

Just on two f the points in Jacks link

    2. AHMADINEJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

Obama did not quite say that. What he did say was, he would sit down without preconditions but only after high level talks had been hel, he sugested at Sec State level (I actualy saw the interview) and 5 ex Sec's said exactly the same thing including one of McCains top advisers Kissinger.

    4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.

This is exactly what Biden said 'McCain & Obama voted against the bill for differnt reasons, McCains been the Timline. Just watch a replay of the debate, he says it a couple of times.

As for the other facts I cant comment on those

You must be talking about after he started back peddling. Here is something early on and it seems clear. In fact, it is a fundamental difference between him and Hillary on this question:
