I thought of that and then thought we could pay them hazard pay.

I'm certainly glad the SOB is dead.
It would be nice to have taken him alive but I'll certainly settle for dead.

Bottom line is we had the opportunity to take care of him and did. He was an enemy of the United States and other countries. It was our duty to take care of him whenever we had the chance.

There are more of course but his death is a big blow. Seems he may have gotten too comfortable "hiding in plain sight".

It surprises me that none of the ultra liberals on this forum who don't believe in the death penalty haven't voiced their displeasure that we took a human life.

I find it coincidental that the only thing this raging lib has accomplished during his time in office is a killing.

I just got a lot more details about it on the nightly news this evening. Kalid sheik mouhamad dropped some names and a phone call to a courier a year ago ended up leading to his ultimate demise. They say, supposedly there was a compound constructed in the US exactly as the one he was holed up in that they trained in before going through with the mission. They knew there was a high value target there but were not sure who it was. Pictures of the compound show FAR less than a glorious mansion. He was not living the high life at this place, but was trying to blend in. Protected by high walls with barbed wire and no security around. So it was a bit confusing.
The whitehouse watched in real time as the two blackhawks went in and the SEAL team rappeled down into the compound. They entered the building, shot a few people. Went to the third floor where Obama was standing with his wife. They told him to surrender. He apparently resisted and some say he tried using his wife as a human shield. She was shot and wounded. He took at least one bullet above the left eye.

My personal thoughts on this are that it's great to see him go down finally. But I'm not celebrating and popping open champagne over it like all these other goofballs. Justice is served. Let it be, IMO. How much this is being politicized is hard to watch. It's good that he's dead. Capturing him alive could have led to enormous problems. There would have been terrorists taking hostages demanding his release or they get killed. Just about guaranteed. Good riddance.

Well, at least it's one campaign promise fulfilled! lol We can't argue this one. Should he gain a single vote in 2012 over this? I say no. The media can't stop gushing over this though. This was something that was going to happen no matter who was in office.

True...but "officially" putting out something fake would go a long way to determining truth or deception (which is why we'll probably never see any attempt at it). Give this all a few days to shake itself out, then watch who does and says what, and it'll point to the truth all on its own IMO.

Because hunting down a terrorist is equivalent to the death penalty? It's not always a good thing to say EVERYTHING that comes to the tip of your tongue. Some of it just sound imbecile.

I believe (and forgive me if I'm wrong about this, Lehigh) that he was asking if the anti-death penalty advocates here feel that taking a human life (any human life - including that of a terrorist) is wrong.

I haven't conducted a poll but I'd be willing to bet that most anti-death penalty people can make the distinction between a guy sentenced to death for a crime based on some arbitrary set of factors and the death of a guy responsible for thousands of innocent people's deaths around world. If the implication is that anti-death penalty people believe one death is the exactly the same as the next, then his question is a pretty dumb question and even a dumber way to ask it.

The fact that you are too dumb to understand the concept makes you sound like an imbecile, not me. In fact, hunting down a terrorist is worse than the death penalty. In a death penalty case, the person killed has been convicted in a court of law. In this situation, a life was taken with no legal justification. To make matters even more interesting, all reports seem to indicate that Bin Laden was not armed when he was killed. That precludes the possibility that the he was killed out of self defense by the military personnel. But congratulations clown, we finally found an issue for which you support the conservative side.

BTW, if you wanna have some fun. Read the section of your quote in red text out loud using a West Virginia accent and ask yourself how you sounded.

I thought that given the fact that the US had declared war on terror and OBL was an admitted tool of that terror that we had legal justifcation to kill him.

Even as an enemy combatant, if he was unarmed, they would normally try to capture rather than kill.

Given the circumstances would they have had time? Maybe a quick peace conference?

We're talking Navy SEALs. I've heard they're rather well trained.

Exactly! If they were given the order to capture him alive, I am certain he would be in G-bay as we speak waiting for his sandwich. I guess the SEALs were given other orders!
