Haven't felt this kind of hype and momentum since Obama. We'll see how things go come November, but it's weird to feel hope.

 

Hope for what? More of the same of the quagmire we have been wallowing in simply because the name at the top isn't Trump?

 

I'm not gonna lie, that's part of it. He was pretty awful.

Things are not great, but I don't see the solution to be lobbing the grenade of Trump back into power as the solution.

Hope because both Biden and Trump were terrible candidates. Most of the country was voting lesser of 2 evils, it just depended which they saw as lesser. Hope because now there's someone younger and competent that can take control and actually give people someone to vote in support of.

Based on the outpouring of support she's receiving, I'm far from alone on this.

 

I get that, but it stuns me. Perhaps younger folks memory is too short to remember that 5-6 years ago they were likely living a much better life.... But I guess that's not good enough these days. I am afraid now that Kamala is the torch bearer she will come under much deeper scrutiny and the realization that she has absolutely no accomplishments to show for her political career, will likely open the eyes of those so narrowly focused.

 

She has plenty of accomplishments in a career spanning being a DA, state AG, Senator, and now VP. She's a billion times more accomplished than Trump and that will be obvious if he dares set foot on the debate stage with her.

I don't actually think things were better 5-6 years ago. Were they for you? Great, but that's not the common experience once you account for recency bias.

Yes they were. But then my version of "doing better" is my ability to provide for my family. My family's safety when I am not nearby. And the state of world peace because I don't want to face the prospect of sending a son to war.

Why in the world would anyone be excited about Kamaltoe Harris? She was a horrible DA and even worse as a senator. She accomplished absolutely nothing as VP.

People on the Left are desperately clinging to anything at this point even if it's a diversity hire based on identity politics. They're "nervous excited" about Kamaltoe. They're talking about how young she is (59 years) and that she's female and partially black. Ummmmm... OK... what else does she bring to the table? The Left is only excited because its not Joe Biden. Well, that's not really a cause to be excited about (or maybe it is depending on your point of view).

People on the Right, however, are excited to see someone who is now the only one in the race to have actually served as president and has the experience to back him up. Sure, he's older than Kamaltoe, but that's never bothered anyone on either side before so why should it bother them now? Additionally, if you're looking for youth, the GOP has one of the youngest, most vibrant VP candidates in modern history on the ticket. One who will be a youthful 44 years old when he runs for the presidency in 4 years.

It's because they know what they're doing goes against democracy and they can't be seen as a threat to democracy. So, they simply turn out their lights, shut their mouths and put their blinders on.
