He may spin a good one, but I think the real keyword of the next Presidential campaign is going to be 'disillusionment'. I like to hear some of the things he says, like small government and cutting back on foreign policy, but politicians have a habit of not doing things they say.

Right down from Washington's cherry tree (which was a story made up by Parson Weems) to "I did not sleep with that woman" politicians have become all spin.

So, even in the unlikely event that Ron Paul got on the ballot, and in the unlikelier event that he got elected, I doubt we'd see smaller government or better foreign policy.

As do I, Peter! But having said that, I must also say that with the degeneration in our politicians, our media, our educators, and our so called “intelligentsia”, I can’t help wondering if the day may yet come when the only thing that can save this country is a military coup.

I think what people like about Ron Paul is that he isn't afraid to say what others are coached not to say. Rudy is a perfect example. He reacted like a cougar pouncing on a lame rabbit when he heard Paul even hint that our foreign policy might have something to do with how others perceive us around the world. Imagine that, our foreign policy having something to do with our reputation. The sad part is that there are precious few in the Republican party that can see that the Emperor has no clothes. A real Conservative would recoginze the principles the party once stood for. The zombies of today haven't a clue.

Zombies of today are ALL in the Democratic Party!! The so-called Zombies you are referring to are the ones who can't get a grip that we are being attacked all over the world by Fanatical Muslims. Open your frickin eyes and read for yourself... It isn't like Midas is making up the news he posts regarding the continuing attacks to this day.

I could care less about our reputation around the world!! I don't remember the US under this President invading a nation before we were attacked. Last I checked Clinton, a Democrat was the one who bombed a foreign country (Bosnia) and we weren't attacked! I would rather be ALIVE and hated than DEAD and hated!!!! I will chose the former and you ZOMBIELIKE LIBS can choose the latter.

I think we would or at least I think we would see him try...Being from Texas and an advocate for smaller government and the abolishment of the FED I have followed him for sometime...his platform as NEVER changed from the first say I heard him speak...Not to say he isnt human with faults and wouldnt falter...but I have a feeling he might be rather honest and would at least try to do as he says. Thing is, because he is honest and never bends, he isnt qualified to be president....we dont like honest men with real convictions that are not party line in power...He would get no cooperation from either party.

That would be the worst thing that could ever happen to this great nation...but it is why this nation is great...even with all its problems, this has never happened and, with hope, it never will...the military does not simply decide to take power...military dictatorships are the worst forms of government.

Could be okay for awhile until the unrest has settled.

No it couldnt, there isnt anything happening in america that warrants a military take over...They always say its for awhile...its never just for awhile.

Probably true regarding smaller government, since the big government mentality is deeply ingrained in Washington. But Ron could probably force some compromises, shake up the establishment. But I have every confidence that the biggest changes would be to foreign policy since this is primarily an executive function.

    We can dream, can't we?

It doesn't surprise me at all that you would be the one person here who would support dictatorship. The nation went through a civil war with armies camped just outside of Washington, and we never even postponed an election. The British occupied and burned the capital during the War of 1812, and our form of government was unchanged. Our constitutional republic is far more durable than folks imagine.

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you have something to hide. In your case IF we had a totalitarian government you would be rounded up and exterminated for your views. It isn't that far off I don't think.

Call me a commie, or whatever you want. I don't really care. I don't really care about anything you say because your posts are ridiculously ignorant.

Now you are paraphrasing Adolph Hitler's justification for totalitarian government. Wow. Just wow.
