Seems to me that taxing by the mile instead of the gallon would take away the one major incentive to buy fuel-efficient vehicles. However, it would probably be more fair to the "less fortunate" who are more likely to be driving the older, gas guzzling, clunkers on the road.
One way to execute the plan was to put GPS transmitters in cars so the government would know how far and where you went.
Worse part about it is the guy who proposed it was the Transportation Secretary who is allegedly a Republican. Obviously not a conservative. Must be a RINO.
