Did you see Obama's performance on the Tonight Show last night? Imagine if Dick Cheyney had made that comment about the Special Olympics...they'd be calling for his head today.
Yeah, Bush sure was a good cowboy alright, idiot couldn't even shoot. No I am not talking about Cheney, I am referring to an incident when Bush downed a protected bird in Texas when he was governor.
Call on the services of Madam Guiloteen on the whitehouse lawn and lets impeach him at the same time for this dreadful blunder
Gotta say it wasn't the smartest thing for Obama to say. Kinda like Reagan with the "the bombing starts in five minutes" remark. Now had Cheney said it there would have been a different reaction. I would have embraced it as he's more suitable for the Special Olympics.
I don't know what David is talking about. Did you see how CNN ripped the President a new one over the comment... Attention on the Special Olympics skyrocketed Thursday when, in a quick and clearly unscripted moment, President Obama exhibited the power of words during his history-making visit with Jay Leno. While joking on The Tonight Show about his bowling prowess... http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/03/20/obama.special.olympics/index.html Man, no way would Bush or Cheney have been torn apart like that! That was just brutal reporting. lol But, yes, it is mostly a non-issue in the grand scheme of things. I think it is just interesting to note the difference in press treatment. The former President would have gotten a reaming for the comment whereas the current President just gets his butt kissed. Well, on the plus side, maybe that is the end of any more History-Making Visits to late night fluff shows. I am guessing an SNL visit is probably not in the works either.
In a roundabout sort of a way, he inadvertently drew attention to the Special Olympics, and that is not such a bad thing. I am sure the principals in that organisation must be loving the free publicity, and duly so.
Well, I am a complicitor David. Did Reagan get impeached for his joke about the bombing in five minutes? Lots of Russians didn't find that too amusing either now did they. Course you forgot about that because he's your hero.
Awesome! Maybe he can make his next crack about gays, the elderly or disabled veterans. Think of all he could do with this new angle for good he has stumbled on!
No, Reagan didn't get impeached constitutionally, but you're still impeaching his character about his statement a quarter century after he made it. Why do you get to do that, while Obama opponents don't get the same privilege? Personally, I think everything's being blown out of proportion. Who hasn't made a comment about someone, even themselves, being "special in a short school bus sort of way?"
The press is really stretching for news about Obama, Bush had some new gaffe nearly everyday. Obama gaffes just like everybody else, but not like a moron like Bush.
I never did see CNN with the story. All I saw them have was an apologist paragraph inserted in another story about the Special Olympics new ad campaign. They probably had the story somewhere but probably buried deep off the front page.
So, just so I get this straight, it's okay for Obama to insult the Special Olympians because Reagan made a crack regarding the Russians some 25 years ago? Sorry, I don't think it is quite the same thing, do you? Really? This is but one more instance of Obama being arrogant & elitist. These unscripted moments show the real Obama. His only concern for the "little people" is how quickly he can pedal his crack & get everyone addicted to the government handouts & control of every aspect of our country.
KLJ, Unlike some I have a great deal of respect for your thoughts but exactly where do I imply that I have the right to make comments about anyone while denying them the right to do the same to Obama? I don't see it. If you read my original post I do state that this was not the smartest thing for Obama to say. Sure I add my comments about Cheney as well which gives an idea of how I feel about the scumbag. Why bring up Reagan? Why not. I can. David hates Obama with a passion as we all know. So I made a ridiculous connection but how ridiculous was it really? Personally, when Reagan made that remark I laughed. Yes, it was a really bad choice of words and some ran with it. I was not among them as I voted for and supported Reagan. This I agree with 100%. First read the above David. Now explain how in the world your twisting little mind makes this quantum jump? I'm glad you at least have figured out they are not the same thing. Good boy! Totally different animals absolutely no doubt. Common thing? - bad choice of words in expressing oneself. So let me ask you this? Do YOU truly believe that Obama went on Jay Leno to maliciously attack Special Olympians? DO YOU? He was making fun of his own bowling skills and chose a poor way to do it. That's the bottom line. You can call it a "vile attack" all you want David but it's not and you know it. You're reaching for ammo that isn't there. Should we be going at it here in 25 years feel free to bring it up. Hell, mark it on your calendar. An absolutely amazing paragraph David. Your hand has dug deep in the "paranoia bag" to come up with these conclusions that would only be obvious to someone like yourself. Could you connect the dots a little better? A lot better? Should I take this out of context and accuse you of calling our President a crack dealer? Dude, are you going to make it through his first year without suffering a total breakdown? I really am starting to wonder.
Yea, like you care. Such a phony. Youre the kind of guy who thinks a janitor isnt your equal. Do you expect us to believe you care about those mutton heads?
While not very Presidential, as you have to be SOOO politically correct at ALL times, it's no biggie. Sounds like something I might say off the cuff, with no intention to offend at all. If we start picking this stuff apart, we are no better than the wacko leftys who did it to Bush. Don't join in the Obama derangement club and you'll be a happier person overall. There is much more substance to disagree with than to stoop to the level of Paul Begala
