I've seen so many folks here get their knickers in bunch if you say anything at all bad about George W. Bush. Fair enough, this thread is for all those people that want to say just what it is they love about dear old George. No unkind words please, just the things you admire about him. I'll start you out...

I like George W. Bush because....

I like him because, well isisn't he the owner of Bush's Baked Beans????

    Rooooll that beautiful Bean Footage!!!!

I typically lean toward the right (not far right, just a bit to the right) and I am not really happy with him or any of them for that matter....

I only voted for him, because, I felt he was the lesser of two weasels.... Or is that Evils...

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class is shrinking...

Here is one, what/how do you think things would be different if Kerry had taken the driver seat??? I'm not sure, but in seriousness I'm curious as to what some of the more leftward leaning folks would say...

I like george because he's not a democrat. Hard charging, no-b.s. kill em and grill em. I like his economic policies that have led to lower un-employment levels, and his unwillingness to bend to the wills of other countries.

I like his quick and decisive action against Afghanistan. Although the Taliban hasnt been completely wiped off the face of the earth like they should be, I think that what they have now is better. Its not ideal but I admire Hamid Karsai and they now have a republic that allows women to hold office. They have a long way to go but almost anything is better than the Taliban.

I like tax cuts which he gave. In my world less taxes or a refund of taxes is always good. He certainly didnt balance them with lower spending but all the same, he did cut taxes, I prefer lower taxes to raising them in all cases.

He did Take out Saddam and his little turds he called sons. Again, certainly not ideal but in the end...Saddam being gone is not a bad thing, the failure to realize the scope of the action was his fault here, but certainly cannot be placed upon his shoulders alone...the congress backed his action fully and even Clinton can be quoted as saying that something, sooner or later, would have to be done about Saddam, he did it.

No child left behind was a good idea and HAS made some positive changes...

President Bush Proposed A Comprehensive Immigration Reform Plan as well as a guest worker program...a plan I think is rather good.

Established the North Western Hawaiian Islands as a protected marine reserve - largest marine reserve in the WORLD

Responsible for the largest reorganization of the Federal govt. in decades. By creating the Department of Homeland Security, over 20 overlapping agencies have been consolidated and reorganized.

Partial Birth Abortion Ban. How ever you feel about abortion, this needed to be done.

What he has done good or bad has, in large part, been done with the consent of congress...

While I believe he is far from the best president we have had...and I mean real far from it. A pre-emptive war...or escalation of such a war...is not an act he alone has taken. Let us not forget about Vietnam and even Korea...Vietnam a war that began before Kennedy, escalated BY Kennedy, and concluded a bit later that cost the US FAR more lives and change little. Let us not Forget Nixon who committed the basest acts of breaking and entering for partisan reasons, was a bigot, a liar, and simply a crook (the worst of politicos) who early on was a part of the McCarthy bunch. Let us not forget the joke that Clinton made of the presidency, what a global joke our president became at that time and the serious error committed by that president that could fill a nice long list. While Bush may not be ideal, at least he is not in court half his presidency dealing with sex and financial scandals and asking what the definition of the word 'is' is...when they think of Bush, they may laugh at his speech but they arent laughing because he is an amoral pervert rapists (sexual harassment at best)

Nobody is perfect and Bush is far from it. I would normally never defend him but I find that when faced with what I feel to be unreasonable hatred and bias for something I often take the other side in an attempt to balance it out...you know...rabid pre-Israel I find myself defending Palestine, rabid pro-Palestine I find myself defending Israel...etc...

I think Bush has made many mistakes but he has also done some good...do they balance out? probably not and many of the good listed probably can be argued (I wont argue them) since as was stated in another thread...peoples opinion are often clouded by bias and they can convince themselves a rose smells like dung if they hate roses enough...I think time will tell what he legacy will be, if IRaq ends up with a better government than they had under saddam in the end and we end up with a long term oil rich ally from the deal and the american death toll continues to be far below vietnam, who knows...

Why do I feel like you are cooking something and want to refute anything positive that someone would have said???

They all suck, whats the difference....

Bush will be gone in in 2 years then what will you guys do????

Some other Ahole will be in there looking for ways to raise taxes, decrease the middle class, take away rights or parts of the constitution bit by bit and maybe increase the amount of imigrants as its good for Big business...

I doesn't look like we could muster much love for old George. Maybe hating him IS the only alternative after all. Now don't knock me for my anti-Bush threads, you had your chance. :mouth:

I actuall, sort of, kind of, a little bit, like the some the Republican candidates for 2008. I also like some the Democratic candidates in 2008. I don't know if it's just that anybody would be better than Bush and his friends but I think we are definitely trending back towards normality. I think it's going to be an interesting election next time. I don't see any radical shifts afoot but at least we know how bad things can get. I will hate or love any candidate that is elected regardless of party affiliation depending on how effective they govern. I'm long past siding with one party or the other. It is a matter of deliverables for me at this point.
I hope that neither party has the House, the Senate, and the White House next election. I think the potential for abuse is too great when that happens as we've just witnessed. I think the best division of power would be for a Democrat to be in the White House, Republicans with a slim majority in the Senate, and Democrats with some degree of a majority in the House. I think that is the best configuration that leaves room for changes and doesn't give one party an insurmountable disadvantage. Hey, can I be nonpartisan or what?

Gotta go feed the Walmart beast now. See ya later!
