Yeah, but that is what BO himself promised he get cure. He & his minions set that bar...the criticism came once he failed to deliver!
The Democrats would not want this person Lehigh. This person has a history of "blame everything on Obama" since well before you joined the forum. You're smart enough to figure it out.
Gridlock is positive? You know some of us look at a bigger and more far reaching picture Vess. Please explain how keeping things the way they are is going to positively help this country and make it better. The more we remain at our present state the more dangerous it becomes. I doubt this will become comical at any time. It could become dangerous. Do you know how many times I've heard buy guns and ammunition because of the "threat" of the government taking over under an Obama run country? I hear this crap at work all the time. Often it is my boss spouting it. He's a good Republican and spouts his "wisdom" on a daily basis. Yesterday he asked my co worker who he should vote for. I'm serious as a friggin heart attack here. He listens to the right wingers on the radio, preaches it and then actually asks who he should vote for. But I digress yet make a point. If I'm hearing this at work on a frequent basis it must be happening somewhere else. Guns and ammo buddy. We have our rights but when does it get out of control? At what point does it become those that are just getting by while working hard and those that are doing well and screw everone else start shooting at one another? Vague descriptioins for sure but isn't it something to think about? Not comical to me.
Some like the status quo simply because they've fared very well under it...so why change it is their obvious mentality. Not really comical but that's how they think. They're above those that it didn't work for, which is part of the whole right wing mentality. The fact that they're against government and against spending however is indeed comical since they run to become employed by the government (which is what they're all celebrating right now), and spending is bad idea (unless it's for the military, or deficit enhancing tax cuts for the wealthy). Your boss is measuring people by asking them who they're going to vote for, that's all. He knows who he is voting for. I'd go in to work tomorrow and tell him how great you think it is that republicans took back the house. Probably get you a raise in the near future (for pampering his ego).
Gridlock is what has replaced any kind of compromise in our current highly partisan, political climate. It is like trench warfare. Sacrafice making progress for not losing ground. Which, I think, is why we will continue to see back and forth flips in the control of the government and why 2/3rds say, at least, that they are in favor of a third party alternative to the Democrats and Republicans.
We intercepted the pass and gained a lot of ground but have to keep our eyes focused on the end zone. Watch Obama do a flip-flop but I hope he is a man of his morals and sticks to his agenda because that will surely guarantee his outster. I know very little about the new, soon to be, speaker of the house but he may be the one to nominate for the next presidental election, we will have to wait and see.
Certainly simply look back to a post made by David just after President Obama was elected, he later tried to say it was meant in jest! I do believe that when he took office he mentioned 2 long hard years did he not? now look at US GDP for the past 5 quarters in sucession it has grown (slowly I admit but still grown) Banks are back in profitability, your Auto industry has not totaly collapsed so yes there is hope As for Afghanistan he told you before he was elected that he intended tomake that and not Iraq his priority (which he has done) Now I asked this question before but no one cared to answer Has America collapsed under this administration? Has America given up it's borders? Has America jumped into bed with Chavez, the lunatic in Iran, Cuba, North Korea or China? Has America become the worlds rabbit afraid of everyone? Has the American Armed forces been emasculated by this President whom many claim hates them? Is it wrong to want health care for your citizens? Is it wrong to want your population to be able to read and write? Yet what do we hear about well lets see Death Pannels LOL anyone care to provide a link to a actual goverment document that says it will introduce such things? Now would someone care to tell me exactly how the Republicans are going to solve your deficit problem? The only way it can be done is by stringent cuts to not only services but also to your defence budget
Gridlock is what we'll have for sure. Our liberal/conservative divide is probably greater now than we've seen in a long, long time. The TEA Party conservatives are further right & will flex their muscle while libs will continue to chase their far left agenda.
Yeah, I heard an interesting comment on the radio today that made me laugh. I think Hannity said it. He mentioned how it's funny that every time democrats win/take control, the media outlets talk about hope, change, and progress. The day after republicans take control, all that talk turns to "they're going to have to compromise". Then he played a montage of Harry Reid saying compromise about 15 times over the last couple of days. Sorry folks. There will be no compromise. Republicans were sent there not to compromise. Compromise is code word for going along with the dems entire agenda. I don't think that's going to happen.
I don't think you're understanding. You see, any issue, everything that I think would be a good idea for the government to do or not do, Obama magically thinks the exact opposite. He is a phony, that never should have been elected. I would not call anything that has happened in the last 2 years "progress". I highly doubt we would see any one positive thing happen in another 2 years of their total control. All there has been is damage. To me, the situation is so dire, that the highlight of this is the 'possibly' of minimal damage happening for a couple of years. Financially, this country is already ruined. No party is going to save us there. The federal reserve has gone off on their own and decided to print 600 billion to a trillion to buy our own debt. That runaway train left the station a long time ago. So all that's left for me to worry about is seeing whatever the next draconian measure they plan to take, get stopped.
There never is any compromise when it comes to the hard right. Certainly nothing unusual. It's been no no no since Obama got there. Don't expect it to be any different now. After all, the republicans didn't have to do ANYTHING at all to win the house back. Just say NO. Now they think they have been validated because, hey, it worked. Now the left can just stand in the road and block every rich man's piece of legislation that they try and come up with. Seems to have worked for the right very effectively. The senate and Obama should try and push through every bill that has already passed the house prior to the arrival of the original party of no. I'm sure Obama has an idea or two up his sleeve that'll piss off the tanman and his group of elitists...after all he's a pretty smart guy and the left elected him to oppose the right and their corporate takeover agenda, and if he DOESN'T stand up to these jerks, he'll find himself out of a job in 2012...and rightly so. (although with the likes of Palin and the Newt to oppose him, it's hard to imagine him not being able to make mince meat of them). I'm almost glad the wackos took the house. Serves the democrats right being such p**sies and standing up to their crap in the first place. Maybe they'll learn something from it. It makes me almost puke to hear Obama pandering to those idiots as he's been doing past couple of days. Yes...we know the only thing the right is capable of is tax cuts for the wealthy. They're not capable of any other kind of ancient ideas, and I'm sure nobody expects anything different. NO COMPROMISE. Hey....I agree.
You're correct on the financial part. Our goose is already cooked there. It's well past the point of no return. What's next?? Easy...War..perhaps another invasion of a sovereign country or two...maybe Canada next time. Don't they have oil reserves we can confiscate up there? Billions, trillions....who cares. The horse has long since left the barn, and with the public stupid enough to let the elitists back in...it's all over but the cryin'.
And what good did it do for them to say no?? They rammed anything and everything through that they wanted anyway! Which resulted in last Tuesday's events. You're right. There was NO compromise. Which is why many of them aren't going back. Obama needs to leave his ideas up his sleeve. If he stands up to them the way you want him too, as we've seen, he will be guaranteed one term. The mindless, racist vote can only carry him so far next time. Many of these people have felt tricked and let down and won't be returning to the polls for him.
The Democrats may be the Tax and Spend party but the Republicans are going to have to come up with something more than Borrow and Spend to be viable. And they haven;t been good at that in the past. Right now, all I know is that they want to keep tax cuts in place. Fine, but that doesn't exactly decrease spending. Where is the budget makeup for that 370 billion a year or the 1.27 trillion before that? I am betting they can't make the hard choices needed to back up their rhetoric.
That's been the ongoing story of this country for the past 50-60 years. Tax cuts are easy. Cutting programs is not so it doesn't get done. You make valid points. Nobody seems to think the debt will ever be a problem. Its taboo to talk about it. We've got a major disaster on our hands as the country goes bankrupt but people think I"m crazy. All people want to talk about is who's to blame. America's credit rating is going to be downgraded in the near future. A mere 1% interest rate change on 14 to 20 trillion dollars is pretty major. Considering that all, total tax revenue coming in right now is enough to cover defense, social security and medicare and nothing else. The rest is all borrowed every year. This will never change until we go bankrupt, all paper wealth is wiped out and they start from scratch with some new plan. No party will change this. The system will break first. The interest payment on the national debt is expected to surpass annual GDP by 2020. That is a key indicator that will be looked at. It is anticipated, like Greece, that our credit rating will be downgraded at that point. Which will automatically drive up the interest rate on the 20 trillion in debt that will be sitting there. How will they pay for that? I guess the annual deficit will have to become 2 or 3 trillion then.
He deserves to be a one term President if he bends over any more towards the right. Making him a one term Prez is the right's stated goal..has been all along. That's certainly not going to change. May as well "jam" everything through that he can before the the final stage of pilfering is instituted by the right when he does get voted out of office in 2012. The racism you speak of is all mostly from the right my friend, as you help to demonstrate. I'd rather have a one term Prez that had some b*lls than a panderer for the right wing agenda. He needs to represent the MAJORITY in America. The 98% of the people...not the 2%. Good riddance to him if he can't do that.
The national debt has been in an unrecoverable state for some time. Our credit rating will indeed be officially downgraded in the near future. You think the last "near depression" bailout was something? It was a mere practice run. You ain't seen nothin' yet. If a spotlight could ever be focused on smoke and mirrors, behind the scenes of mega fraud this "capitalist" country engages in, revolution would be right behind if the masses realized the details of the future that they think they have, that isn't actually there, and it's not far off. Then watch all hell break loose. THAT will be the pivotal event that brings down the whole corrupt, worthless system. Like the Titanic, our course is doomed.
Well, no argument here. I see major pain coming within my lifetime and everyone is oblivious to it right now. You have to study it on your own to figure it out. For being educated, people think you're an extremist or a survivalist. It's a laugh. If we need somebody to blame, you can blame just about every president from Woodrow Wilson on. Programs have been instituted that were feasible and possible for only a short time period, that were completely mismanaged and we're still stuck with today. They can't be removed without mass chaos ensuing. So they will print money to fund them to keep this going for as long as it lasts. Some people are waking up to this. Some can't stomach it so they have to pretend that the future is bright. Every single government agency, institution, state, county, city, school, library, pension fund, is bankrupt with no relief in sight. There's no solution to this mess and it only gets worse with every year that goes by. It's too late. Bush spent, Obama spends, the next guy will spend. Really doesn't matter who's at the helm. There are no cuts because there can't be. Not until it implodes like ancient Rome. This isn't extremism. It's simple math! If it doesn't add up, I can't in good conscience tell people that 2+2=5 and everything's going to be great. Not when insiders are openly talking doomsday scenarios for the near future. Maybe to some, a clean slate and one world government forced upon everyone doesn't sound so bad. Really, bit$%ing about politics is just an entertaining diversion I suppose.
