Whats to gloat about David they failed to take the Senate and now have to start making good on there promises also in reality you now have possibly a divided Republican party, how will the Newcommers (Tea Party) find working within the established party system? If the Rebuplicans had managed to wrest controll of both the Senate and the house then they realy would have had something to gloat about

    Well Congratulations David.
Honestly I would have been stunned if you didn't gloat.

I did have to laugh at DeOrc's comment as I thought exactly the same thing. I expect things fixed in a week - no make it a month (I'm a patient man).

Do we have time to do this in "baby steps"?

Oh, how conveniently we ignore the fact that beginning in '06 dems controlled ALL of Congress, then in '08 it became control of Congress & the Oval Office. Repubs still face overwhelming obstacles but at least they'll have a voice!

And that sums up the Democrat's failure in one sentence. Many of the swing voters (moderates & independents) cast their vote for the republicans this election because they were tired of the Democrats blaming Bush two years later. Those same Democrats then want the Republicans to fix their messes in a week. What is worse is that they aren't kidding.

Reality seems to elude the Democrats on a consistent basis. The fact is that the Democrats still control the Presidency and the Senate. The Republicans are only in a position to stop the progressive agenda of the President and put the government in gridlock. Nothing will get fixed until 2012. So you can fold your arms and stomp your feet like a child if you want and demand immediate satisfaction or you can accept the fact that our government was intended to work very slowly in order to prevent any radical changes. To answer your question, anything but "baby steps" is a serious threat to this nation, so yes, we have time.

So let me get this straight. Nothing will get fixed until 2012. Until then, nothing. Ok.
Sounds republican enough. So...IF we get a republican in the white house, and he doesn't take office until 2013..then...two years from there..2015 (which was the maximum amount of time the right allowed Obama), all will be well? Assuming the democrats still have either the house or senate in 2015...shouldn't they just say NO to everything along the way? Wouldn't that be a good measuring stick of how much they can actually get done by the end of 2015, incorporating the same hurdles Obama had to endure?
So...will it take awhile to fix Obama's mess? How long? Would it take longer to undo eight years of fixes versus two years? What year would you project all would be well? Don't you think theoretically that it should take much less time to fix damage that occurred over a two year period? I'm trying to understand. According to the right, we're told Bush was "two years ago". Too distant to be of consequence. So where will we be in two years with republican leadership? I guess in two years, Obama's mess won't be relevant anymore..it'll be distant history. So what time frame will we feel the effects of the awesome agenda via the right? 2015? 2016? Sooner? Later?
I'm sorry...I'm just a stupid liberal and I need someone bright and informed like you to turn to. Someone with your "credentials". Thanks in advance for straightening me out on the technicalities on how politics really works. You see...reality eludes me. You're a Godsend. Thanks again!

It can just as easily flip again in 2012. Pubs better show they learned their lesson from the last thumping they took.

Yet the Republicans were all shouting out loud when President Obama had not cured the nations ills within weeks of taking office during the worst recession and market collapse in decades!! Would you perhaps care to refute that statement? and do remember that I am not a supporter of your President and have stated many times I woudnt have voted for him LOL and those same swing voters were tired of Republican rule so they voted them out as well, lets not forget that little but very significant fact.

However, it will be a bit more difficult the next go-around. The Reps won the majority of the states governors. They also won the majority of the state legislative bodies. This is the first time since the 1920's they hold those. They now have 55 out of the 99 bodies picking up over 500 seats.

Believe me Lehigh I am not crossing my arms and stomping my feet. The "fix it in a week" is an allusion to what I heard so much of when President Obama came into office and I heard it most loudly here on PRWE.

As for Democrats wanting the same from Republicans and worst of all being serious I don't see it. Can you point out some examples perhaps?

Am I disappointed in the Democrats? In many cases yes. My biggest problem is indeed how are the Republicans going to do a better job? When are they going to show me something I believe in and implement it even over a period of time?

Gridlock is not a good thing IMHO. It will leave us where we are or possibly worse.

I voted yesterday, as I assume the people here did. A guy I went to high school with was running for Congress. He is a Republican Tea Party candidate. I've followed his comments/views on his web site. He actually makes some good points. What he does NOT do is offer any solutions.

So what will we have in the long run utilizing "baby steps"? Will it be Republicans blocking anything that the Democrats propose to dig us out of the hole just because it's Democrats? Will that help our nation as a whole?

There are many questions but I see very few answers. How about you?

    Deja vu?

And I remember the hubris of the Dems after 2008. If the Repos didn't work with their, they'd be done as a party by 2010. Any time there is a perceived major swing, things better get better quickly or it will swing back. Once the outsiders are the insiders, many will want to throw those incumbent bums out if things don't improve quickly.

Voters may be finally learning how to impose their own term limits. Kirk in Illinois is a perfect example. He has 6 years or that seat is back in Dem control.

Are you kidding? At this point, "gridlock" has never had as positive a definition in the history of mankind.

Should be very interesting how Obama handles the situation now. I'm going to guess it won't be pretty. He's had his way for 2 years. Now things get interesting. You think you've heard blaming and whining? We haven't heard anything yet. Should be border line comical.

Anyone who made such a criticism is a clown and should immediately defect to the Democratic party. I made no such criticism and stated several times on this forum that we need time to evaluate Obama's performance.

So if you have proof of a Republican leader or a member of this forum criticizing the President for not fixing the economy within 3 months, lets see it. In other words, I call!
