I totally agree.. Mercury Morris is a dumbass. Nick Buoniconti can go to hell in a bucket... Wine aint getting opened this year.. really, they should put the unopened bottle with the story in the Hall of Fame if the Pats take it.. Vikings shoulda done it Moss's rookie year. We lost that one game, to Tampa I think.. but then blew it in the Championship game anyways..
Great teams.. but never ran the table.. Pats are unreal.. What a team. Moss is something special. If he plays long enough, he'll shatter every record Rice ever set..
Great idea. That is a really great idea. I'm afraid they can't compare. Mainly due to free agency and salary caps which have since leveled the playing field. In those days the big fish would hoard all the talent. If anything, free agency and the cap should have made it nearly impossible for something like what the Patriots have accomplished to come to fruition. Actually, the year after the cap and free agency was imposed, most (if not all) of the experts had proclaimed the era of the dynasty to be dead.
NEVER!!!!! I will agree that the competition is tougher nowadays, and more wins is better, but I don't think it "washes" the 72 Dolphins. (of course, I could be biased. ) It's true that they didn't have "330 pound 6'6 athletes that could run like a cheetah in 1972" but neither did anyone else. Going a season without a loss is impressive no matter who you are. But, Mercury Morris was on EPSN this morning spouting off, and making no sense at all. I agree that he needs to shut his yap. Frankly, I am just glad that the NFL has teams like the Pats who win the majority of their games. If gives them credibility over sports like baseball where it is common for a team to barely break .500 for the season and easily make the playoffs.
I don't think those old timers would even make it through 3 days of practice like they do now let alone a 16 game season.. Czonka woulda had a heart attack. Half of em smoked like Chimneys and drank like fish I bet... Sh*t, Hollywood Henderson for the Cowboys used to shove a huge rock of cocaine up his nose before a game.. Hahahahahaha Believe it or not: the life of Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson is so remarkable that it seems to have come right out of, well, Hollywood | Football Digest | Find Articles at BNET.com
What ever happened to Garo Yepremian? The idiot kicker that blew the Dolphins chance of winning the Superbowl by a score of 17-0 (to end a 17-0 season) when he tried to pass a botched kick and the Redskins player ran it back. Wouldn't it be weird if the Patriots won 19-0? Not gonna happen. They'll rock 21 points in the first 12 minutes.
Hope the Giants at least make a game of it.. Their D is looking pretty good.. Burress looks healthy, Jacobs and Bradshaw been looking good. Eli is playing well.. Never know.. prolly will be over after 12 minutes.. 21 - rip..
Didn't he get a sex change and become police chief of Miami? LACES OUT!!! aww dangit, Snaf beat me to it.
That's a great clip.. as is the legendary Viking Jim Marshall running the touchdown the wrong way and spikes it for a safety... Moron.. I think we still whipped em but, come on Jim.. [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP-ZfBbMvFc[/ame] Hahahaha.. what the hell is that vid? Stained over Marshall's wrongway touchdown it said. I'll try to find the real footage. Video-Jim Marshall running the wrong way - YouTube | NFL, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers It's at this link, but the vid doesn't show up here. I don't think that's it either.. looks like one of those old vibrating football games.. Hahahaha.. Poor Jim.
Jim Marshal running the wrong way was a classic. I remember my dad, a huge Vikings fan, sceaming at the TV while he was rambling the wrong way. I know how easy it would be to get your directions screwed up playing football. I was a linebacker in college and got my bell rung real good on a tackle. I wound up in the offense's huddle. They called med staff out right away and they got me off the field. Didn't play the rest of that quarter. I don't remember anything about the rest of the game although I did play the 4Th quarter so I was told. On to my pick. There hasn't been a major upset yet. Yes Indy losing could be considered one, but, San Diego really has the kind of talent on D that could nutralize Indy and they did. I'm going with, drumroll please, New England. Even though there hasn't been a big upset there won't be one next Sunday.
