I was thinking the G men.. but I think the run ends in G.B... Hats off to them though.. Got hot at the right time.
You got it.. I'll bump you to 5 - 3 as well.. just cause you're my wife. Anyone has a problem with that and I'll be making some more "debate about debate skillz" posts in the free for all forum..
Going with the favories next week. New England Green Bay I want to pick San Diego and would have if Rivers and LT weren't hurt. They say they'll play and probably will, but, how effective can they be. San Diego if at full strength is the only team capable of beating NE. The teams that NE had the hardest times against were teams that could run the ball and stop the run. San Diego can do that and while I take NE I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they get beat.
So how'bout a little history lession wez. Didn't the Patriots. win like two super bowls in a roe the last few years?
Thanks. I'm still on suicide watch for the next 48 hours. This year's loss was a bit more disappointing than any of the previous playoff losses. For two reasons. One, Sand Diego was just supposed to be a speed bump on the road to New England. Even inside of two minutes as the Colts started their last drive, I never doubted for a split second that we were going to win it. When Clark dropped what I thought was a brilliantly placed pass over the defender on 4th and 5, I just couldn't believe it. Football isn't nearly as fun when you lose. And secondly, the domination we've seen with the Colts has been going on for some time now. A record 5 straight years with 12 or more wins. This cannot go on forever. 3-5 more years of dominant play is the maximum one could expect. It really is quite depressing to think about things going back to the way they were pre-Manning. It'll probably go by in a flash. Before I know it Manning and Harrison will retire (I expect Harrison to retire this off season or the next), Dungy and Tom Moore aren't long for the NFL either. This whole thing will fall apart rather fast over the next few years. It isn't pleasant to think of going back to those Jeff George days when the Colts didn't have an identity. At first just watching your team win regular season games is enough. After awhile one gets used to it and regular season dominance becomes an expected formality. As of now I am rooting for Brett Favre and the Greenbay Packers. I would love to see Favre win it all one more time, and retire as a winner just like Elway.
I just have to say that the Pats have been impressing me for a long time. They lose lots of talent, and keep comming back to the playoffs, year after year, and I believe they maintain one of the lowest salary amounts in the NFL. Do more with less money, every owner's dream. I just cannot imagine anyone else winning the superbowl at this point.
I couldn't agree more.[/QUOTE] The best are always hated by those who are not the best, it is just a fact of life.
Yeah, that was a bummer... Really kinda was looking forward to that matchup. I'd love to see Favre take it. What a career.. Iron man. The best ever I'd have to say after the records he broke this year. Plus, he has the Superbowl. Never had the pleasure of the "dynasty" like Montana, Aikman, Bradshaw, and Brady but I'd take Favre over any of those guys. He never had that elite receiver year after year either after Sterling Sharpe effed up his neck. Favre rocks.. Go Pack!!
GRRRRRRRRRR........ As a person that truly loves the game, I appreciate Favre not only for his success, but the fun he has while playing. Even during his most intense and focused moments, he really seems to be having as much fun as I did when I was 12 and playing in the backyard.
No doubt, gotta love his fire.. I hope he takes the bowl.. I see Moss has just had a restraining order put on him by a woman in FL.. Good gravey.. here we go again.
That NFC game was outstanding. It reminded me why I watch football. The weather. The historical context. The gut wrenching sudden ending. So sad to see Favre not go to the big show one more time. I hope for hopes sake that Favre comes back for one more taste. I despise NY as a city in a general sense. But I have always liked the NY Giants franchise going back to Phil Simms and LT (The original LT). Also, I have a soft spot for 'lil bro Eli Manning. As a little brother myself, I know the shadow that the older sibling can cast and I've been rooting for him to emerge from it for a few years now. PS: I had to take down my Colts avatar. I do not want to see that thing for at least 6 months after that terrible game they played. They won the championship last year by breaking away from their finesse offense reputation and finally asserting themselves as a power offense. And what do they do? Friggin 48 pass attempts at home? 5 yards from victory and they throw it incomplete 4 times in a row? Psssh.....
That was a harsh loss Jhony.. Can't believe the Colts lost. Should be a cake walk for the Pats.. Although, them Giants been playing good football.. I think our little contest still has cloaked up by a game.. and will end that way unless he's taking the Giants, cause I sure the hell aint. I predict Brady throws 5 td's.. 3 to Moss..
Now that I have no reason for bias, the Patriots have earned my respect. Finally, the elderly loud mouthed 72 Dolphins clan can be hushed. What irritates me is that they (Mainly Mercury Morris) are still trying to say that the Pats are only poised to equal their 1972 efforts. Bullsh*t!! For one, 19-0 beats the crap outta 17-0. Secondly, the NFL is far far more competitive these days. They had what, 26 teams in the league back then? Maybe less, dunno. As well they didn't have 330 pound 6'6 athletes that could run like a cheetah in 1972. What the Patriots accomplished totally washes the 72 Dolphins efforts.
