The only team in the history of the league to get caught using a video camera to cheat. Belichick never humbled himself by properly explaining why he cheated, nor did he apologize. He gave Dungy the cold shoulder after the week 9 game this year, turning his back and walking away when Dungy reached his hand out for a shake.

And then the Pats set about repeatedly going for it on 4th down when they were up by an excess of 30 points late in the fourth and within field goal range.

They got caught cheating and then proceeded to play the entire season with a "F*ck 'em all" attitude.

Lets hope in this copy cat league that this doesn't become the standard method of operation.[/B]

 

Hahahaha.. I think they were doing what ALL teams did and prolly have done under the radar since the technology was available.. Some sore loser decided it's time to blow the whistle.

 

I agree that the respect and lack of civility that Belichck showed was less then anything approaching, "class". People call him a c0cky, ass. I'll agree that he's an ass, but as for c0cky. In the words of Kid Rock, "It's only c0cky if you can't back it up". So far he's backed it up.

The whole cheating thing was much ado about nothing in my opinion. I'd be willing to bet that if they put as much energy into that as they are steroids in baseball, you'd find every team is doing it. I think it's a stupid rule anyway. You can't video tape signals, but there is nothing stopping you from assigning someone to sit with binoculars and write down the signals. It's a technicality and although I understand that Roger Goodell is trying to clean up the league and use people as examples, I feel the punishment was excessive. 1/2 mil from Belichick, 1/4 mil from the Pats and a first round draft pick for something that everyone is doing is a bit much.

There is nothing wrong with this. This is a professional sports team. There is no such thing as running up the score in pro football. The all get paid very well to do their jobs. It's your job to stop me from scoring, not my job to quit trying to keep from hurting your feelings. I'll go against obvious, running up the score in the NCAA, but not the pros.

 

Well said... I agree, as far as "running up the score" booo hooo... My view is that it's the job of the offense to score points. Like Madden says, if you don't like it, stop them.

 

Patriots backers keep saying this, but there is no proof or even a semblance of reason, none whatsoever, to even suggest that.

The Pats got lucky, bigtime. Lucky that this c*cky bullsh*t didn't get Brady's ankle twisted or Moss's arm broken while trying to break records. Records that Bostonians always said didn't matter when Manning and company set about to shattering over the last four years. All we heard was "Records don't matter. All that matters is the ring". Now that the Pats are breaking records, all of the sudden records matter.

You gotta understand, around here, the Patriots are not to be spoken of in a good light. The rivalry that has formed during this decade has caused Hoosiers to hate Tom Brady and his cohorts. Brady could hand me a check for a million dollars and I would likely complain about the way he did it.

Just don't listen to me when I talk Patriots football. I'm just gonna whine and bitch like a biased jerk.

 

I'm not a Pat's backer, and I know there isn't any proof, but I still think it's pretty safe to presume that it's pretty widespread throughout the league.

I agree that keeping starters in during situations like this and risk injury when not necessary is stupid. Had one of the stars on the team been hurt or received a season ending injury or something, he then would have been looked upon as a greedy jerk, but since it went his way, it's fine.

Being from Indy, I was pretty certain you didn't hold the Pat's in high regard.
