I think it is impossible to even judge Obama prior to the end of his first or second term. Bush is easy to judge since he cannot have any additional impact. Obama has barely had a chance to have his policies take effect much less change the landscape enough to judge his presidency. You also have to remember, we could have been stuck with McCain/Palin or we could get stuck with any of the current crop of misfits vying to be the next George Bush. I will wait until Obama has completed his term to judge him, however, considering that the RW'ers have been calling him a failure from day-one, they are unlikely to change their opinion in spite of all the foreign, economic, and domestic policy successes he has already racked up for his constituents AND his foes.

    Now that's funny Moen.

And I consider myself more of a moderate these days HM. Much less liberal than I was in the past. I certainly lean to the left though.

You at least attempt to have "intelligent debates" here, which as you have found out, can be darn near impossible.

Keep trying though. Your posts are always a good read whether or not I agree.

Oh, for God's sake! Is this really the same Moen who once exclaimed that Obama and Lincoln would go down in history as the greatest presidents? Now you're saying that it's impossible to judge Obama until the end of his term and that even YOU are reserving judgment? Well, what happened? You were once so sure that he would be one of the great ones and vociferously proclaimed it!!

HM- Don't fall for the false praise from these two. They are no more interested in having a civil, serious debate than I am in seeing BO appointed for a second term. What they are really saying is you simply don't disagree with them as much as everyone else does.

I'm sure she needs your opinion. The praise we gave her cannot be false since it was neither asked for nor retracted. Your fake concern for HM is what is false. She probably knows that.

At least not on the "Lincoln" part of your statement. On the "Obama" part of your statement, well, he belongs on the dung heap of presidential history alongside such luminaries as Jimmy Carter and Lyndon Johnson (actually below both of them).

You make absolute statements while having no way of knowing the eventual truth even as all of your opinions are underscored by your extreme biases. I at least say that when all is said and done that I believe X. Your own words belie your own extremism.

If everything isn't "said and done" how can you possibly make such an absolute statement without belying your own prejudice? Now, YOU have given me the best laugh of the day. If you're not an extremist, how can you say something like this with a straight face?

That is even beyond the pot and kettle. That is so ridiculous as both the pot and kettle calling the fire black.

Laugh all you want but you seem to be unable to figure out what an absolute statement is. I made a prediction by qualifiying my statement with "when all is said and done". You made an absolute statement like all extremists do.

I guess I need some of your edumacation. Just what limits does "when all is said and done" put on a statement other than future tense rather than present tense?

I don't know about judging Obama at this point. I didn't like the big bailout...let the rich guys fail I thought, and get new blood in, but, from what I see and read, his plan's working. I like him because he tries to be reasonable. I think Carter's problem was that he was too honest and therefore ineffective in the DC gang. Few remember now how absolutely despised Lincoln was in his day. Among other things he suspended freedom of the press and habeas corpus. Bush. Bush stole the presidency and was a poor excuse for a president, a man, a human being. My mad, lunaliberal opinion.

Oh, I really don't like to parse words, but for you I'll make an exception. Your statement was (and I quote):

"Abe Lincoln and Barack Obama will be two of the greatest presidents...".

You didn't say "may", "might" or even "could". You said "WILL". That is about as absolute as it gets. So, to quote you once again, "You made an absolute statement like all extremists do".

Had Gore garnered a majority of the Electoral College votes (thus becoming President) and Bush garnered the popular vote, could we say that Gore "stole the presidency"?

Deals were made, numbers were stacked, palms were greased...in my opinion. The house of Bush had enough crap and everyone involved to retake the White House. Jeb Bush may well be president some day by the same process.

Since when did my statement end in "... " ? If you're going to parse a statement, parse the whole thing Breitbart. You people are so morally vacant, deceptive, and outright dishonest that you do not even merit a response to the nonsense you regularly post. I sense uniformly low IQ tests in your respective pasts.
