Hi, I am Big Kitty, the pessimist. Just another old fart that can remember the good old days and wonders what the heck happened to them. If you want to know my age I can remember buying gas for 50 cents a gallon and bitching about it.

 

Oh yeah? I can remember buying gas for 25 cents a gallon and cigarettes 10 cents a pack.

.67 cents a gallon, and I think around $2.00 a pack is cheapest I can remember.

But then I gage my memory by the price of Little Debbie Snack Cakes. .69 cents REALLY got you somewhere on your $2.00 a week allowance back in them old days..

$0.89 is the cheapest I ever remember seeing it and that was in 2001 right before 9/11.

$2.00 A WEEK??!! I got 25 cents a week when I was in grade school. That was when a Three Musketeers was big enough to share between three kids (the standard [and only] size).

Gas at .36 and cigs at .25. My allowance was .50. 10 oounce bottle of pop, .08.

Quit smoking when a pack went up to 50 cents,

 

Before I quit smoking, about two years ago, my Camel's were up to $3.33 in some places.

 

When I first started driving, gas was .89 a gallon. When my friends started smoking (I never picked up the habit) cigs were around $1 a pack and you could still find vending machines that sold them if you weren't old enough.
