Danr, which games? How many points? Which other refs? You said, "The outcome of games is changed by refs who are betting on the games." You have provided no support. One ref was caught betting on NBA games, a violation of his contract for which he will be punished. You can't demonstrate that the NBA is "a joke" as you stated, or that the league is the equivalent of pro wrestling where all outcomes are scripted in advance. So you're wrong, that's all. Admit it.
I get the feeling that you do not watch much NBA. The bad calls have been out of control. not that you read links http://www.newsday.com/sports/baske...,0,2116779.story?coll=ny-basketball-headlines
Great ACLU member you turned out to be! What ever happened to being innocent until proven guilty? There hasn't even been a trial yet, and the guy has pled innocent. You had better be applying for your dues back!
I'm still waiting for your evidence that the NBA is the WWF with the outcomes of games determined in advance. You should at least be man enough to admit you are wrong. You're still trying to pass the actions of a single ref off as a systemic problem with the league. Any evidence of that?
First you give me the level of evidence you are asking for in regards to pro wrestling (hint: it does not exist). The NBA is at the level of pro wrestling, yet the level of evidence you ask for does not exist for either.
I think the best evidence that there is a difference between the NBA and pro wrestling is that many former pro wrestlers talk freely about how outcomes are decided and rehearsed, why certain wrestlers were permitted to win a title while others were denied it, etc. If you could name a few former NBA players who openly admit that the outcomes were determined in advance, or a few officials, or coaches, or anyone connected to the game, I would accept that as evidence. Another good indicator is that if the outcomes were frequently fixed, Las Vegas wouldn't accept bets.
Danr, so at least we've learned a little bit about you... 1. You aren't man enough to admit when you've made an error, even when it isn't of any importance -- a serious character weakness 2. You think the outcome of NBA games are fixed 3. You think WWF wrestlers believe they are engaged in a legitimate sporting contest rather than atheletic entertainment 4. You believe that Las Vegas accepts bets on events where the outcome is known in advance Thank you for revealing that to everyone. The thread would otherwise have been a complete waste.
You apear to be willfully ignoring the fact that Donaghy called a dirty game, not sure why you are so obsessed with defending this crooked official (but with your blind suport of Bush I should not be surrised).
Danr what you seem to be missing is that there is a fairly large chasm between proving he bet on games and proving that he fixed games. Even the Newsday article that you linked to said that there is as much counterevidence as there is evidence and that the evidence is weak that he fixed games (only in a tiny fraction of his games did the spread move noticable, meaning 2 points, and then it goes on to say that a two point swing is common in the NBA, meaning no useful conclusions can be drawn from a change of only 2 points.) Even if we accept that this official fixed games there is still a huge chasm between that and the league wide systemic problem you are insinuating exists. I can tell from your attitude that you've never attempted to officiate a competetive athletic event or you wouldn't act like you do. You sound like a person who would rather complain and blame someone else (a sports official in this instance) than man up and overcome your obstacles. The pace of an NBA game is very fast and errors in officiating can and do happen, however to claim the officials are all on the take (which you did) proves you have no clue how difficult it is to officiate, and you have no concept of how much more difficult it would be to tyr to fix a game in any manner that wouldn't draw immediate attention.
Here in Phoenix we are familiar with this creep. He has caused the Suns to lose important games with bad calls.
One slight difference Peter Rose was partisan he bet on his boys to win, a ref is impartial so how can he remains so and place a bet on either team unless he is predicting a draw LOL
Cave Troll is right. Danr is wrong. You can't cite a date and game and proof. You are unable to admit an obvious error. Just another disgruntled fan, a sad sight to see.
ahh, now I understand...I suppose if you lived in San Antonio or Dallas then it would be ok because he was cheating for your team. Then again if I remember correctly, Stoudamire getting himself suspended had a lot more to do with Phoenix losin g this season than the referees.
Kind of contradicted yourself there pal. But that happens when you go down the path of lies. Eventually, you trip up. Very sad to see this sort of public character flaw. Every post only discredits you more. Consider getting a new screen name after this one.
