Recently, there have been too many instances of name-calling, both reported and not. Over the past couple of months, the reporting has been largely one-sided, but inspection reveals that many make no effort to report them. Just because one is more able to ignore it does not mean one should not report it. While every post in every thread can't practically be policed, better enforcement of the rules can be undertaken when violations are reported. Please take the time to report it when observed, so that name-calling is not reported only by the thin-skinned, and so that it does not persist, or even proliferate on the site. Even the moderator is guilty of occasional name-calling, and a sincere effort to cease is expected of all. Uncivil behavior is not inviting to meaningful discourse, or to additional membership, and we should all do our part to bring more value to Partisan Lines.
Liberal snowflakes and conservative girly-men report posts. If you know for a fact that posts are being reported, they we have a bunch of those folks here! I like it when folks are given the rope to make fools of themselve and show their lack of character. IMO, there is only one way to improve PL. Get rid of two non-engaging ignorant members and find more members like @GeneWright who support some of their views. It is impossible to have any discussion with an ignorant person who will not defend the lies they post or answer a direct question. It is like trying to play a game of chess with a monkey. They either will eat the chess pieces or knock them off the board.
Well, have it your way then. Don't report what you see, but members can still expect more consistent warnings going forward when instances of name-calling are known. Merry Christmas!
That is not to label any particular individual, but to differentiate between those more inclined to report name-calling from those not so inclined.
Most of us are adults. Names do not bother me as they indicate the name caller has been stumped and their ignorance has exposed. My preferred names are: Your Highness, Know-it-all, Idiot, Stupid, Ignorant Fool, and anything the non-engaging Monkeys who post here can think of. I mean my fellow PL members.
I have been told (before joining PL) that this forum is less moderated than most. That is a good thing. It gives all of us the ability to blow off steam when engaging with ignorant posters such as you and Joe who very rarely are able to back up what they posts. If PL were moderated very strictly, I'm sure your nonsense would not be tolerated. You both would be told to either engage when directly questioned or you both would be BANNED! I'm all for that kind of tight moderation. My fingers are tired of typing these words to you and @JoeNation : IGNORANT DODGE DUCK SHUCK IGNORE ENGAGE NONSENSE LIAR GIRLY-MEN and MONKEY
I have not been consistent in the editing / warnings for the use of names widely considered offensive because the name-calling is overwhelming, and recently so has the reporting of same, so I drew a line in the sand last week (might just as well be the first of the year), and plan to do better going forward (yes, that's to everyone). I have not . . . repeat, have not removed or censored meaningful content, and the little I did remove was clearly problematic . . . pornographic, doxxing, etc. Can you point me to a political forum where the moderators are demonstrably more fair than I am?
Are you a moderator? Why is that missing under your icon? Anyway, how can an ignorant person question anything posted? They are ignorant!
Members are allowed to question anything they want . . . and you are allowed to respond. That's what a forum is. At this time, the rules are very simple . . . there are only 3 of them. Read them, know them, and abide by them.
As far as moderation duties go, I haven't seen any instances or trends of partisan bias on this forum.
mmmmmmm... I'm not so sure about that. Several of my political cartoons have been completely deleted in the "It's Getting Crowded At The Top" thread in the Chatter forum. They were innocuous cartoons like calling Putin a Communist/Socialist. I've since re-posted several of them and they haven't been deleted since. But, I believe only a moderator (or above) can delete posts. Or am I mistaken?
No. Except for every other one I am using. They seem to have a financial stake it doing it right. That doesn't seem to apply here.
