No law can prevent dirt stupid parents from getting their own kids killed. Somehow, I think Darwin would have an opinion here. 5-year-old kills his sister, 2, with 'My First Rifle' By Ruth Brown, May 1, 2013 Story Highlights Boy received the rifle as a gift last year Mother was home when the girl was shot Gun was inadvertently left loaded It was "just one of those crazy accidents," in the words of the local coroner: A 5-year-old in Cumberland County, Ky., accidentally shot and killed his 2-year-old sister yesterday with a .22-caliber rifle. But unlike many suchtragedies, the rifle in this case actually belonged to the child, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports. The gun, which he received as a gift last year, was inadvertently left loaded with a single shell in a corner of the family's home. "It's a Crickett," said coroner Gary White of the gun marketed to youths with the slogan "My First Rifle." He continued, "It's a little rifle for a kid ... The little boy's used to shooting the little gun." White told WKYT that the children's mother was home when the shooting occurred: "She was actually cleaning, and she had went out on the porch. She said no more than three minutes had went by and she actually heard the rifle go off. She ran back in and found the little girl." http://www.kentucky.com/2013/04/30/...ly-shoots.html#storylink=omni_popular#wgt=pop http://www.childrensdefense.org/chi...tions/data/protect-children-not-guns-2012.pdf
Well, Obama wanted enhanced background checks to (supposedly) avoid incidents like this. I don't think any sort of background check would have prevented this. Do you? If you're posting articles like this to bolster your stance on background checks, you're doing a very poor job.
You are a strong proponent of increased background checks. Yet, somehow the only response we can get out of you as to what good they would do is, roughly translated, "That is a dumb question you #$%#@$% *&$* #%$#$". And you wonder why you are having trouble convincing others to join you. HMMM?!?!
Would one of you kindly convince me that you even read the OP by asking a question or making any statement that might indicate you understand that this is merely a story about a couple of parents that bought their 4-year old a rifle and then left it laying around loaded so that their now 5-year old killed their 2-year old? What are you guys? Stuck on one topic so badly that you can't move on.
You are a proponent of gun control with background checks, banning "assault weapons" (that you refused to define), limiting magazine sizes, and probably other means. Then you post this story of two idiots. Aside from "you cannot fix stupid", what point(s?) are you trying to make?
Bad parents are bad parents. Often kids suffer the consequences. http://tbo.com/news/crime/tampa-mom-charged-after-infant-drowns-in-bathtub-b82485375z1 http://www.wbtw.com/story/22111366/mom-charged-after-baby-drowns-in-bathtub-nc-police-say http://www.newhampshire.com/article/20130430/NEWS03/130439954
I dont agree with allowing a 5 year old to have access to a loaded weapon, some might well disagree with this but that is there perogative some might also say it was the childs constitutional rights to own a weapon and that I am sorry to say would be madness.
