I just realized, you must have inspired me: My work-station desk has a main table, and then had two sets of half-depth shelves above it, with a gap in the middle for a monitor in the top shelf, the monitor sitting on the middle shelf, but that made the monitor too high, really, and I couldn't get the middle shelf out without taking the whole flippin' desk apart (lock-tabs and wood pegs-- I'll tell you how I know very shortly), so by God I used a circular saw to cut a big gap in the middle of the middle shelf, and then cracked the remaining end-pieces down, and used a wrecking-bar to blow 'em outa there, and pliers to pull out the remnants of the wood pegs involved. My desk has quite a spacious look and feel to it now, and the monitor sits nicely low on the back of the main table, and eventually I may cover up the holes where the middle-shelf lock-tabs and wood pegs used to be . . . .
