Hehe Well, look. At lease he's out there swinging even though he's not connecting with much. Just a feeling, but I don't think the mean stuff comes naturally to him. Maybe that's why it falls so flat.
Is the blatantly racist term "cracker" allowed? Many people, including myself, consider that term extremely racist. View attachment 2107
If you would like me to remove the term when used to discribe someone I am more than happy to do so. I refer you to another post I made asking all members here if they wish me to crack down on offensive and uncivil discorse. If the majority wish it I will do so with a vengence. But it is your choice as members, please do remember this.
Tea baggers is what they called themselves until someone pointed out what tea bagging actually meant. They aren't the brightest lot. View attachment 2110
All I'm asking is that you utilize the same criteria for the word "cracker" as you do for the word "nigger". Both are equally, racially offensive. Nah. The word "vengeance" indicates that you're doing something for revenge, but as a moderator, you don't need to take revenge. Your duty should just be to moderate the discussion. To the point, I think it's quite appropriate to refer to certain members as "idiots", "morons" and "pinheads", etc. since there's nothing racist about those terms. In fact, those terms are an indictment of their intellect and not a personal attack upon characteristics they can't change. I would say just keep the racist terms in check.
You can place any type of innuendo on the term "tea bagger" that you wish, but please do us all a favor and keep your mind out of the gutter. Tea Partiers, as you already know, refers to the patriots of the Boston Tea Party and if you want to refer to those patriots as Tea Baggers that's fine, too. It's all a reference to patriotism. Indeed, YOU should (as should all Americans) be proud to call yourself a "tea bagger".
I would like you to follow Peter Davis' example. As much as I would like to learn Peter's political leanings...and engage in political analysis, he understands (as I do) that his role doesn't permit it. As an Administrator, you should appreciate your role and not engage in partisan discussions if you can't do so without the use of derogatory slurs. I don't think you need me to explain what a derogatory slur is. I offered up an example and you seemed to recognize it right away. Apply that same standard to all points of view and you should be good to go.
...Here we go again... I just want to say that I, for one, appreciate Steve and Pete putting up with all our BS....and repeat...
Hey, I'm still waiting for your ilk to explain to me how my avatar is "racially derogatory". Never really got an answer to that so before you start throwing around more characterizations labeled "derogatory" maybe you should look up the word first and maybe even justify your past uses or at least your past complicity with the characterization.
You might try consulting a dictionary before you attempt to deduce such motivation. I suggest Merriam-Webster:
Did I call your avatar "racially derogatory"? It offends me just as a burning US Flag offends me. However, if you honestly believe the Tea Party is a racist organization, then I support your use of the avatar to express your opinion. If, on the other hand, your use of this avatar is to establish a racist associate in the minds of others, then it's up to you and your conscience to replace it with a more appropriate statement of your beliefs.
What are you... the word police? Try consulting a thesaurus sometime. I suggest any thesaurus. View attachment 2111
As I have said, I don't believe that every single Tea Party member is racist. Nor do I believe that every single Democrat is not racist. Either belief would be absolutist. However, there certainly are plenty of example of some severe racist undertones and overt displays of racism, racist symbols, and racist public policies that go hand-in-hand with the Tea Party. And they never, ever, at any point get condemned by the Right. That tells me that they are tolerated for a reason. If the Right wants to move forward with a viable party, they need to shed the Tea Party. Instead, they mostly crawl along trying to not anger the racists in their ranks even while the Tea Party is trying to shed them. Muster some courage for a change GOP!
