So apparently the GOP is saying it out loud now. Corporations ARE people. The Supreme Court through its decision under Citizens United has determined that corporations are people with respect to campaign contributions but Mittens Romney has decided to expand the corporations are people theme to include not taxing corporations because they ARE people. I don’t think that is what the Supreme Court ruled when they decided that corporations can give unlimited amounts of money to candidates but as the GOP expands the original ruling we should all be asking; where in my limited liability? Where is my tax loophole? Where is my bailout? When do I get to earn billions and pay no taxes? I wanna be a corporation!
Under BO's rule, you really aren't responsible for much. His policies are designed to make sure the state takes care of you. Hey, you get what you voted for. When you vote for a far left radical you get more taxes, not less. Don't worry, BO is a walking, talking bailout. Nothing is keeping you from going out & earning billions right now other than your talents and work ethic.
Yeah...how do you like that one? If that ain't the mindset of the ultra wealthy and greedy pig rapists in America, I don't know what is. Corporations are the fundamental problem and this putz defends them. There's the problem with greedsters and the republican party who defend scum like this on display for all to see. That guy should be in jail, not running for POTUS. What a sick world.
I think Mr. Buffett said it best: "My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress. It's time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice" The typical response by the Right-wingers to this type of statement is..."Let Mr. Buffett pay more taxes, blah, blah, blah,..." Which make me wonder if greed is an actual disease and one of the main symptoms is the loss of the ability to care about anyone else except yourself, any material possessions you have, and your weapons? I don't know when it became acceptable to care only about yourself but when you have people that buy into Ayn Rand's selfish world view, what is left to care about except yourself?
The reality is that taxing the rich, while it makes for nice speeches, isn't going to pay for much in the grand scheme of things. The big fuss over taxing the rich last year was all about 18% of the total cost of the Obama/Bush Tax Cut Compromise. A 300 billion cost vs a 370 billion cost. Until we have politicians who have the courage to ask all Americans to sacrifice to get us out of this hole, revenue increases are really a non-issue. Not much more than a meaningless talking point. Populist drivel. Whatever you want to call it.
Moen you are confused. Corportations are not like people. They do not have a soul. If they did then we would not have toxic dumping, nuclear plants built on fault lines and near oceans to dump fuel, as well as other things. Besides, when was the last time a corportation went to confession. They just hire lawyers and make campaign controbutions. So they are soul less and not like people. I hope I made this clear for everyone to understand.
Because he has more than anybody else and can afford higher taxes (and he'll still be obscenely rich). People that profit to the mega wealth level through the stripping of society's well being should be taxed at 90%. Last time I checked...90% of 10 billion still leaves a billion...still obscenely wealthy.
Yeah, he's mega rich & can afford it but it's his. What makes it right to take away what one has earned? Where do you stop? You are always on the take, take, take bandwagon but how would you feel if you actually achieved some success & they were coming after your property? I'm sure it makes you feel better about yourself to paint the wealthy as the villian but in reality the poor aren't poor because the wealthy are wealthy,
Because taxing the wealthiest Americans at some higher rate as yet undetermined will not solve all of our economic problems, this is a reason to not tax them? Is this the argument you are making?
I think the point is if we know it won't fix the problem, why do it? Could it be that BO simply wants to gain control over a segment that e doesn't control now? Taking money from the rich would bring a lot of money into BO's pockets. If it doesn't cure the debt problem he created what would he do with it? Hmmmm.....spend it maybe?
I'm saying that if you and I are taxed at a certain percentage level (say 15% for example), why would Warren Buffett be taxed lower or higher than that? Doing so doesn't make much sense.
The OP was pertaining to corporations. Mr. Romney apparently thinks corporations are wonderful. They aren't (except to you wealthy folks), who think they're wonderful too, probably because you have benefited via your stock portfolio from them). Huge corporations, CEO's, mergers and monopolies are a big part of what ails this country. Mr. Romney and the republican party are quick to defend all and I think that speaks volumes and shows the arrogant disconnect from society as a whole. I thought those in or running for public office worked for the public? It's sad that they seem to only work for the mega wealthy. Something's very wrong somewhere, and it begins with the corporate, mega wealth structure. Anybody that doesn't see that is part of the problem.
It's called taxation Einstein. It is just that the super wealthy believe that they should be immune from it. The wealthy got wealthy thanks to this country and everything from the infrastructure we all own to an educated working class that has built the wealth that the super wealthy now enjoy. The use of the national commons is far, far more impacted by a corporation than it is by an individual. The environment suffers under the pollution created by industry. People’s very health suffers from the industrial operations of corporations even when they don’t actually work for one. Strip mining, deforestation, water and air pollutants, soil contamination, and whether you buy it or not, our very atmosphere is now heating up thanks to the mega tons of CO2 corporation pour into the air we breathe. I know that this is a lot of words in a row for someone like you but try to keep up anyway.
It's his now. How he got to that level is another story. When people/corporations take advantage of (exploit) the system, that's something else.
See, there's your problem. You are so envy-ridden (or is it denial?) you believe every dollar someone earns is at the expense of someone else? How many people do you think Buffet has made wealthy? I'll be willing to wager Buffet was helped more people become successful than any initiative-killing gov't entitlement ever has. tom, what you need is to taste success for once in your life then you may have a different outlook on redistribution.
