BTW, he returned to the Senate today http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/02/mark-kirk-returning-senate_n_2398473.html
Just another Republican that suddenly has a more compassionate outlook towards health care and Medicaid once he himself has been affected by something that he didn't give a damn about before he was forced to deal with the reality of the problem. Just like Cheney going against other Republicans on the issue of gay marriage because he happened to have a gay daughter. Or east coast Republicans slamming Boehner over not passing disaster relief when it affects them specifically. The rest of the time they demand spending off-sets. They are all so transparent that only an idiot couldn't see through their hypocrisy...Oh sorry about that guys. I guess all we can do is hope for more Republican strokes, more Republican gay children, and that Hilton Head gets wiped out by a hurricane. What a way to bring people around to the truth that they otherwise refuse to see. Anyway, glad Kirk is doing better health-wise and great that he is coming around to the Left's positions and too bad that it took a stroke for him to do it. Sen. Mark Kirk's stroke has awakened him to what people on Medicaid experience in their rehabilitation efforts, he said. The Hill: Sen. Kirk Says Stroke Changed Perspective On Medicaid Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) said his debilitating stroke has sparked a new interest in the experience of people on Medicaid. In an interview published Wednesday, Kirk said that most Illinois residents insured through the low-income health program would be eligible for just 11 rehabilitation sessions following a stroke. "Had I been limited to that I would have had no chance to recover like I did. So unlike before suffering the stroke, I’m much more focused on Medicaid and what my fellow citizens face," Kirk told the Chicago Sun Times (Vibeck, 1/2).
There's an easy joke about brain injuries and being liberal just sitting there but I just don;t feel like going for it.
