Ah, yes, I've seen the taunts and the digs. Go ahead, have your fun. I'm neither surprised nor offended. I would expect nothing less. Not that I'm conceding any point I've made. Far from it. Merely that I expected the exact responses provided by the parties I've addressed. Part of my intent here is to observe certain 'personalities' reactions to various concepts and proposals. Several of you have provided very vivid portrayals of certain mindsets at play in this Presidential election. It has been quite interesting, to say the least. In the meantime, just so I don't keep everyone 'hanging', I have no intention of devolving into the minutiae of rhetorical talking points. I say 'devolving' because neither side has any intention of changing their positions and resort to petty potshots at the opposing side. In plain words, it's a waste of energy that could be directed at more productive enterprises. (Which, for you nosy nellies, is where I have been for the last little while. Never doubt though, that I do lurk about frequently.) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * That said, recent reading has left me quite amused at David's escalating alarm. I think the latest nightmare he has dreamed up is 'indoctrination camps'. That one actually had me chuckling out loud. Where does he get this stuff? Sounds like a old B-movie script that got rejected. Now I'm all on pins & needles to see what could possibly be the next horrible thing that will befall us on Obama's inauguration. I'll be sure to bring popcorn next time I visit. The plot is sure to thicken.... One nice surprise is to find someone who actually reads these posts and takes the time to contemplate the content. I refer to Level Headed. Although I quite disagree with his conclusions, I respect the fact that he does the due diligence in attempting to support his positions. I could do without the chest-beating, as it's quite unnecessary and, imo, detracts from the conversation. (Oh, and the 'Pat' comment... laughed my a$$ off! And, no, I'm not telling.) De'Orc and Clembo are the ones that make this place palatable. Their incisive, oftentimes rapid-fire wit never fail to add a sparkle of insight in the rather bleak prophecies uttered by the doomsayers. Thank you! So, I'm off to spend the rest of my weekend relaxing and taking a couple of items off the 'to do' list'. I'll drop back by later as I assume most of you are doing the same.
Hey, don't feel bad...folks much more knowledgeable than you have had to tuck tail & run when the time came to actually defend, explain or agree with Obamas b*s....the old "give us one accomplishment in Obama's career" has really become too easy of a knock out punch in these debates. Now I will argue one piece of Gypsy's statement. Until this post I have not taken any personal shots, cast any innuendo and insulted Gypsy in any way, but if I'm going to be accused of it....
Glad you like it here Gypsy The only problem I see, is your shooting blanks. You will introduce facts and statistics only to have them impeached, then without counter, just move on to a new subject totally forgetting the first one. Point/counterpoint is great, I enjoy it, but you seem to wither when corrected rather than reinforce with fact. You have admitted to " baiting " with misleading " facts " and offer up impressive appearing subject matter, then ignore it when presented with truth, or an opposite point of view grounded in reality in most cases. You have been the one to resort to name calling, ex: O'lielly, Drillohead, Fauxnews etc etc. I have countered with facts and evidence, you just move along looking for another drive-by opportunity. For a person so well spoken and articulate, I find your debate rather flimsy and full of holes. With practise, you will do better, and with some factual artillery, you could be down right difficult, which makes for more interesting threads !! Now, opinions, thoughts and op-eds are a different story, opine away, as always they make interesting reading. Stop feeding from the trough and taking what they give you. A good lawyer vets the story and digs deeper for clues, evidence and irrefutable exibits, a good blogger will do the same when engaged in debate. Have a great Independance Day weekend folks, I just worked both Friday and Saturday, I am looking forward to a lazy Sunday. Edit: The " Pat " thing. I think of every blogger without an ID tell either way as a " Pat", lol. And, more importantly, Republican talking points and false, unbased claims do not get by me either, I am not a dittohead, but rather a conservative and call it as I MYSELF see it, I hope that has been obvious.
