You are about 35 times more likely to be shot or to shoot one of your family members than you are to shoot an actual intruder in your home just because you have a gun in your house Bacchus. I came from a home with a lot of hunting rifles and my kid brother was shot accidentally by my nephew with a 12 gauge shot gun from 6 feet away. We also had an attempted break-in by some carnies and they were scared off with out the use of any weapons. Do yourself a favor, leave the gun(s) with someone you trust for a couple of weeks and see what it is that you are really getting from them.

In a typical year there are over 3 million home invasions, burglaries, robberies & business robberies stopped because the home or business owner has his/her own gun.

I did, and both of the results were approximately where I would place myself. On the American test I was a little bit left of where I think I am, and on the British test I was a little bit right, but all three of us agree that I am basically a "centerist".

 

Back to Mike Marrota's post, coin collectors do tend generally to be middle aged white males from middle class conservative backgrounds. But one must be careful not to over generalise.

Another stantement earier, conservatives tend to save money, liberals tend to spend it, truth is i get more fun out of spending money. I've lost more money in coins than i've ever made, but i carry on regardless. Not because money is inexhaustible because it's not, but because i enjoy buying bits of history, i'm not interested in investment nor profit.

Money comes, money goes and the only thing to be certain of is you can't take a single penny of it with you when you kick the bucket. So you might as well have fun with it whilst you can.

To the issue of schooling brouhnt up by mmarotta-

I was homeschooled up until the 8th grade and I am then went to a christian private school for a year then I was homeschooled again. Then I went to public school and I found that the public schoolers were so backwards that all they cared about was having a "good time". They had no idea how to work and they were amazed when I got my assignments done in half their usual time. And yes my curriculum was christian based.

To the issue of guns.

The only reason to have a gun in my opinion is to go hunting. We Mennonites are NONRESISTENT. This means if someone threatens you with a gun, let him blast away. NO we are not crazy.

 

I know this is probably hard for you bacchus, but we’ve moved on here. I think you have to ask yourself a question though: When does a passion become a fanaticism? I don’t want to write too much here because I don’t want to give YOU more ammunition ;o
You seem extremely, almost eagerly confrontational, but If you put the gun issue aside you’d see that you and I have many things in common. We aren’t all that different. We are both coin collectors, we like woodworking (I could talk about this forever), we both have families, and we live in the same area of the country. So shoot something back at me on one of those topics.

 

So, what about the part in the Bible, where it say's "Take them outside the city and stone them"?
