How do you like them now? http://www.wpr.org/veterans-ask-walker-veto-just-passed-asbestos-bill Big money won't even take care of their soldiers, they are no less expendable than the rest of the 99%
A large portion of the public doesn't appear to care what happens to veterans, the disabled, or the poor in general. It's more about how much potential profit can be made, rather than helping others. To say such an ideology is dysfunctional doesn't mean much when the lure of $$$ is stronger than empathy. To say that such a dysfunction will eventually collapse the economy (again) doesn't register with them, as they believe the opposite to be true, that the "trickle-down theory" works, despite thirty years and a major recession providing the proof against it. (shrugs)...These patches we've put on the economy, through massive spending and bail-outs, are temporary "fixes". If they need more proof, if they still can't see how Reagan's administration's economic policies are harmful, all they'll need to do is wait a few more years. By then, the economy will be failing again, and if no more stimulus packages are allowed, if no more borrowing occurs, and the trade-system we have hasn't been altered to discourage the creation of jobs overseas instead of here in America...the economy will free-fall once again. The biggest hurdle is going to be bringing jobs back here. To do that means ignoring the lobbyists and $$$ coming from big-business, and that's not going to be easy. People like the Koch brothers will fight tooth-and-nail to get rid of any congressman or woman who doesn't "tow-the-line". But, if we can "fix" the trade-system so that companies have more incentives to manufacture products here, rather than in other countries, I guarantee the economy will bloom. With a strong economy, $$$ would be readily available to see to our veterans needs, as well as the needs of the disabled and the poor. We are now at a "cross-roads" in America, where we either choose to continue following the "trickle-down economic theory", and the current trade-system or we abandon the "theory" completely and reform the horrible trade-system we currently have to provide jobs here in America. IMO, of course.
I hate to break it to you but "trickle down economic theory" does work. The rich get tax breaks, invest their money, and more jobs and factories are created in China. See it works, only not how we thought it would.
