A lot of people reference a "5% unemployment rate" by mistakenly stating that this occurred during Bush's last year as president. The correct statement would be to reference an "AVERAGE of 5% unemployment rate" during the Bush presidency (actually, it was 5.265%) for his eight years in office. Conversely, Obama has an average of 9.45 for the years of 2009-10. For 2011 (measuring Jan - Jul), Obama's average unemployment rate is 9.014%. Even if you wanted to reference the unemployment rate for Bush's last year in office (2008), it's only 5.8%... So really, David... you don't need to concede much. Just add the word "average" to your statement. In fact, you might pull a Hillary Clinton and just say you "misspoke"...! HAHAHA... Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics
Actually, I "conceded" the point just to make sure dr moen, phd didn't take the thread off on one of his tangents.....you know what I mean?
Just a thought he possibly did think that he knew what was wrong with your country and just another thought perhaps he actualy tried to remedy it but found that it was a hell of a lot worse than he or anyone else had considerd you know just a thought. I notice you still avoid answering the questions though dont you! Very good at blaming him for all the ills but when it comes down to actual undisputed economic facts about what he inherated nothing. you talk about it been so bad yet economic growth is up (Only slightly but it is up), the job losses have slowed month on month, spending by the consumer has increased, there are less companies going to the wall. How exactly do you think any other politician who was running for office at the same time as him would have fared? come on lets have some honest answers from you for once. What would McCain have done that would have now had you living in the land of milk and honey? The honest truth is that as a whole your politicians are simply too scared to do what is needed all they do is bicker like 6 year olds in the playground and on this forum what we see is a similar split of "it's your fault no it's yours" !!! Well wake up or you will loose your country Taxation needs to rise and you need massive cuts across your public sector, you need to create jobs within the US not export them To simply blame your President for all your woes is the stupidest thing going lay hte blame were it is much more deserving with those on both sides who create your laws
Just like to add that he also said it would take more than 1 term to put what was wrong right or did you not quite catch that part?
Further proof the guy wasn't & isn't up to the job. He thought he knew, but didn't. Thought he had the fix, but didn't. Thank you for supporting my assertion.
Actually, the way BO "leads" (and I use that term very loosely), Pelosi and Reid are probably more to blame for our ills than BO.
My god you talk such utter rubbish at times you do know that dont you? tell me what McCain would have done to stop the markets collapsing and the economy going down the tubes David Tell me what any of those standing against President Obama would have done? if memory serves they all agreed to the Bail outs, most were in favour of the wars so just what would they have done diffrently? It's not proof of anything except to show just how much you dislike your own President (It is not rational behavior David by any stretch of the imagination to blame him for everything and you have time and time again) the only time I have ever come across such a focused unwavering attitude such as yours has been from extreemists on both sides of the political divide
I would agree with that but I would also throw leading Republicans into that melting pot, as I have said previously they are like squabbling children but unlike children this is the fate of your own country that is at stake
Now this is an example of how to lie with statistics. Yes the average unemployment rate was probably in the 5% range over the course of Bush's 8-year term but how does stating that statistic have the slightest relevance to the situation Obama was handed in January 2009? It IS a statistic and it IS true but it really has little to do with comparing Bush to Obama unless you want to mislead people. You can lie using statistics and this is a perfect example. It is misleading and deceptive and it is used on purpose to mislead the low-information voter types.
You're the one who posted the graph trying to make people believe your "point" regarding unemployment figures so I just wanted to give everyone the true figures. People can decide for themselves what to believe. I think it's prudent to present them with the proper statistics so they can have an informed opinion.
Don't know what McCain would have done...he didn't get elected. Perhaps if BO hadn't told such convincing lies McCain would have won & we would be discussing his fitness to be Prez rather than BO's ineptness.
I didn't say YOU were lying. I said that this is the way you (again not you) can use statistics to lie and mislead people. And I don't believe that presenting the improper statistics and drawing the conclusion David drew was a matter of letting people decide for themselves. The statistics are either applicable or they aren't. In this case, they were used to mislead because that is what people who throw out this type of stat want to do. You as a consumer have to actually think about what is being said and how statistics are being used. Do you really believe Skeeter from Trailer Park USA thinks that deeply?
OK but 3 1/2 years in to the BO presidency unemployment is dramatically higher than it was when he took over.
He also said that if he didn't show improvement in the failing economy after three years, he would end up being a one term President. Maybe he does not what he is talking about! http://politisite.com/2011/08/05/‪obama-
Maybe the impending collapse of the European socialist states will wake up the Democrats from heading down the same road.
There really is little choice. We've already shot our wad trying to avoid any pain or reality over the last 3 years. Whatever happens from here on out, there almost certainly will not be any more 'stimuli' or 'bailouts'.
