Just stopped by to gloat....

I see this election as not only a referendum on Obama's failed presidency but also a good omen for the 2016 Presidential race. The Clintons campaigned hard in Ky & in their home state of Arkansas with both of their candidates being soundly trounced! In Kentucky the Clintons are perceived as a joke so if they are the best the dims have to offer in 2016 it's game on!

 

That's precisely how I see this election. The electorate has became tired of failure not only by Obama, but Harry Reid and democrats from coast-to-coast.

More than anything, this election represents a rejection of Obama's liberal policies. Voters spoke loud and clear on Tuesday night that they will no longer tolerate failure. Obama MUST start working with Republicans instead of blocking them at every turn. The next two years will define Obama's presidency as either a "mild failure" or a "catastrophic failure". It's really up to him.

 

I think you will find the next 2 years a CHANCE for the Republicans build for 2016 - or for them to shoot themselves in their collective feet. If they don't get something accomplished, they may well find themselves low man on the totem pole again.

 

That's how the cycle works. Democrats got lazy and didn't accomplish anything in the last cycle (or whatever they accomplished was simply too liberal) so the voters threw them out. The Democrats have been shooting themselves in their collective feet for some time now and it caught up with them last night.

 

But the Republicans have been the champion at feet shooting since Reagan and I am not yet convinced their aim has improved.

 

Bush I was a great president. Republicans took Congress in an overwhelming landslide in 1994. Democrats loved Clinton, but he was a complete buffoon and the only president impeached in modern times. Talk about "shooting oneself in the foot", Clinton is the poster child for that. Bush II won the presidency... twice! Republicans took the House in 2010 then in 2014 took the House and the Senate (along with increases in the House and governorships nationwide) in what could only be described as a complete tidal wave. I'd say the Republicans have done very well, historically, since Reagan.

 

And Bush II was so popular that he lost the House and Senate. How did he do with that budget? How did that shutdown work for the Republicans under Clinton? What happened to Newt? Tom? I am not saying they have been the fiasco Obama has been, but their ideas are right if they would just implement them.

 

He lost the House and Senate because of he backlash from the Iraq War. The people were tired of war by 2006 and wanted a change. There was really nothing Bush could have done about it. The war in Iraq wasn't based on his failed policies (like Obama's), but was based on faulty intelligence. However, even that meme is disputed nowadays since they found a large stash of chemical weapons in Iraq proving that the intelligence wasn't faulty after all. Even Democrats pushed for war in Iraq, but the voters made Bush pay the price.

2014 is much different than 2006. The landslide victories by Republicans in 2014 are the direct result of Obama, his liberal failed policies and the Democrats who backed him. They are the ones paying the price now.

Indeed. It's not surprising, either. People all across this country are fed up with liberals and their failed policies. This election should be a wake-up call to Obama (and all the liberals in Congress) that the liberal agenda is a complete failure. Let's see if Obama chooses to negotiate with Republicans and start implementing the will of the people instead of forcing socialistic dogma down our throats.

 

And 70% of the state legislatures are now Republican. That one surprised me.

 

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama are saying the same thing. The difference is that they still don't get why the democrats lost.

 

In my opinion, this significant majority of Republicans at the state level is the major hurdle for the Democrats to over come in the next run for the Presidency. This is alot of incumbent influence to overcome at the grassroots (state) level.

 

Oh, I do! If nothing else, I will bet that the Senate actually discusses and VOTES on some bills.

 

Precisely. Reid has kept bills from even coming to the Senate floor. McConnell will present bill after bill for the president to sign.

 

Don't be so pessimistic. Republicans haven't controlled this much of Congress since... oh the 1920's... The only thing that will hold this country back from doing great things in the next two years will be Obama and he's become nearly irrelevant.

 

I can guarantee you there will be no laws passed having to do with creation (unless it is creating the Keystone) or prayer in school. What I can't even comment on would be where immigration is headed. The only thing that appears definite is that Obama is going to gum up the works.
