As of midnight, I'm a civilian again after 26 years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force. I've been on terminal leave since Oct 8 and used that time to find a new job (starts Monday) and grow a beard. For the curious, I was a Cryptologic Linguist (Russian, Chinese and German) with an instructor rating and I also served as a Military Training Leader (some may know it as a Student Training Advisor, similar to a Drill Sergeant), Resource Advisor and my favorite duty, First Sergeant. My duty locations were Hawaii, Berlin, Korea, Missouri and Texas. I never made over to the Gulf, Afghanistan or Iraq; I busted my arm pretty bad just prior to DESERT SHIELD/STORM and several surgeries on my wrist, ankle and feet over the past 4 years kept me stateside (seven years of moving people via the boot leather express is hell on feet).

Congratulations Tony and thanks for your years of service!

Out of curiousity...If you'd care to mention it, what will your new job be? No hard feelings if you don't want to say. It just sounds like you have an interesting background.

    Have a good one! :smile

Great news Tony, now you can sit back and help all us rocking chair generals, win the war by talking about how it should be done!
Of course I'm sure you have a lot more important things on your mind.
Again, congratulations on the 'stand down'.

    Thanks everyone!

I start training as a customer service representative for one of the credit card companies on Monday. Still got other lines out in the water, looking for a government civilian position in the budget or training fields.
