You simply can't attribute forethought, planning, or shrewdness to an administration that bares such a strong resemblance to the hole in the wall gang or possibly the apple dumpling gang. If anything good what so ever comes from any of this destruction it will almost certainly be serendipity. The last thing they got right was their own election into office against a pretty fractured opponent. The last time Bush ignored the Palestinians this badly and gave Israel carte blanch to do what they wished was just before 9/11 when 19 Saudis, give or take a few nationalities, decided to teach him a lesson. Bush’s disinterest in this conflict and his unequivocal support for the Israelis angers many average Arabs that have been told relentlessly that we are no different than Israel. They won’t strike back at Israel; they will strike at us sooner or later for Israel’s response to cross border incursions.
Nothing is as straightforward as attack and counterattack in the Middle East. Arabs don’t fight that way. The likelihood of an attack on American soil or American interests abroad increases every day this conflict drags on. I for one do not trust this administration’s ability to see that attack coming. So stock up folks, we may be in the crosshairs sooner than you think. hya:

 

Midas, Moen, I agree with everything you guys had posted. I am sick and tired of people who think Israel should be tolerant towards kidnappings and bombings. I dont think I can say what I truly believe should happen to Hezbollah and Hamas without the Men in Black knocking on my door. I say Israel should let loose everything in their arsenal and show some serious backbone this time. For someone to say it was so peaceful with Clinton in office is living life in a daydream. What do they think was going on while it was so peaceful while the trade center was targeted the first time, Embassies bombed, USS Cole was bombed and the many other attacks that Clinton just let go by without even a look? All that peace has come together now to haunt us and our allies.

I think the entire Middle East is just too damn tribal to cohabitate with the rest of the civilized world. They don’t even like each other that much. Maybe we should leave the region for a couple of years and then go back and see who is left alive. I'm not saying there aren't civilized Muslims in the world but they don't control the politics or the policies that emanate from Arab countries. The radicals are in charge and they determine the behavior of the countries in the region in order to enhance their own power and we and the Russians have been guilty of playing them against one another for many years. We're still doing it to the extent we can get away with it but it is like trying to hold sand in your hand during a wind storm. Eventually, they become uncontrollable and power mad besides. Something needs to give if there is ever going to be peace in the region. A war, a truce, a new approach or something that ends this cycle of violence is necessary before things get much worse for everyone. All I know is that they are willing to continue the violence as long as they can in order to achieve what ever changing objective they have. They are willing to have children to continue the fighting after they are gone. They ask for pity for a situation they, their ancestors and their ancestor’s ancestors have kept alive for millennia. Arabs are the Irish of the world community if you know what I mean.

That is the greatest insult to the people of Ireland that I could ever imagine. Not a good analogy at all.

 

Indeed they are suspicious of Iran, and in fact some of the Shia radicals in Iraq have distanced themselves from the Mullahs in Iran. Indeed even Muqtada al Sadr, the fiery cleric insiting resistance against the USA forces is now tacitly towing the political solution line in Iraq and participating in attempting to keep peace.

But that doesn't stop Iran from trying to influence as much as possible the situation in Iraq to it's advantage, frankly they are not stupid - - - they do not want repeat of war of 1980-1988 where they lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers and lost revenue etc.

 

Perhaps some might find it insulting but it is certainly an apt comparison. Considering how much distain the Irish were treated with in the 19th and 20th century, their love of fighting, and their characterization as the mongrels of Europe, there backwards existence in the face of a modern Europe, you have to admit that there are similarities.

I thought that comment might spark a rise out of somebody but it wasn’t meant to insult the Irish at all. I love Ireland and my wife is Irish but the Irish have been pulling up the rear in society of centuries. That’s all I meant.

The Arabs probably have at least as far as the Irish to come before they are accepted into the modern world. They are kicking and screaming all the way but eventually they will become responsible citizens of the world community just like the Irish did.

 

Yeah, but the big differance is that the Irish worked hard, assimilated, and became part of the American landscape. Even with all of the discrimmination and wrong-doings that took place in year's past, the Irish were not blowing themselves up thinking that is the best course of action to 'paradise'.

The comparison to the Irish of the past is indeed a reach. The muslim religion was founded on jihad (struggle) and well over a 1,000 years later, there is NO let up with islam's goal to confirm, enslave, tax (jizyah) and/or kill infidels like you and me. I can't find anything in people of Irish descent that deals with non-Irish in the same matter as muslims deal with non-mulsims.

The Irish and a whole host of other ethnicities have moved on into the civilized world. The Irish and other ethnicities have demonstrated through ACTION they can police and control their "own" kind. Unfortunately, there are just too many muslims that turn their back to the actions of their fellow jihadists that commit these crimes against ALL humanity. It is really unfortunate that these so-called "peaceful" muslims understand the actions of these animals and don't do (action) anything about it.

So, the civilized world is going to HAVE to pick up the slack, if not ALL of it.

 

My whole point that you seem to have missed is that this is a cultural struggle not a religious war. Sure they use Islam to rally the "faithful" or should we say the “fanatical” to their cause but this is essentially a clash of a tribal culture and modern democracies. They are using what they have at their disposal and what has worked in the past. I just watched Kandahar the other night and it is amazing that these backwater cultures still exist pretty much as they have existed for hundreds of years. It's easy to understand how they would have trouble assimilating into modern society.

We of course can not tolerate or excuse the assault on our way of life anymore than they can tolerate our assault on their way of life even if it is just an indirect and unintentional assault to some degree. We are little more than foreign tribes to many of these Jihadists and I imagine that they naturally side with the only faction that they can relate to.

The main reason I brought up the Irish comparison was to get people to talk and think about this culturally rather than ideologically. I have no doubt that Arabs will be prosperous and active contributors to the diverse world population one day and that we will all be the better for their contributions. I don't know when or what it will take to get them there but I do know the more blood we and they spill and the more war we and they wage, the longer it will take. I look forward to the day when the understanding between the different cultures takes root. I don’t see the present day conflicts as getting that to happen. These conflicts are probably just a first step in the process. Sometimes two sides have to do a lot of killing before they can finally see the senselessness of it. That is why I can’t get overly excited about one side kicking the other side’s butt.

War is going to happen, it’s inevitable, but that doesn’t mean I have to lose my sense of perspective and get caught up in the details that only obscure the truth and change focus from what shouldn’t be done and what needs to be done. I’ll leave that up to y’all.

 

I can appreaciate your optimism and hope for all, I just can't see it anytime soon unless you figure out how to stop the jihad momentum of the last 1,000+ years.

Matter of fact, I see a cancer that has gripped this religion as just that...a cancer that is taking hold, taking root, and worst yet...growing.

Unfortnately, the religion of islam is the core of their conversion, enslavement, etc., This is just more than "something" at their disposal, I see it as a WAY of life. It has been a way of life for the islamic population since the religion was founded. Hitler blamed the Jews for all of the ills of Germany. Now...I can see your "disposal" argument there because Hitler had a perfect scapegoat at his disposal and he rallied an entire country against them. Once the war was over, the German people "got it" and rejoined the civilized world.

But you also have to ask yourself, who is firing the first shot? Who is crossing internationally recognized borders and kidnapping people? Who is firing rockets into civilian centers just because they feel like it? Who is going to schools and killing school children? Who is going in villages and committing human carnage? Ask yourself, who is drawing first blood for conflict after conflict and all the evidence (and motive) points at islamic followers.

It sounds like a child to say, "he started it", but when you look at the course of these events, the evidence is pretty clear and conclusive. Islamic jihadists are provoking these actions. Islamic jihadists are drawing first blood, and until the peaceful-loving-muslims eradicate this "cancer" from their OWN community, then it is only logical to expect non-muslim nations to protect themselves. If that means war and taking the fight to these animal's backyards, then you HAVE to do what is necessary to defeat a enemy who is devoted to a warped religion.

No...not in my life time will I see this religion join the civilized world until they denounce and eradicate all of the hate passages in their beloved Quran...nope, not even in my children's lifetime (or their children) when I see the next generation of islamic jihadists being trained to die for allah:

 

I'll bet you a gold coin that in 10 to 20 years or so, there will be an entirely different threat unrelated to the Middle East that will be the main focus of this country. This all will have been just a footnote in history by that time. Look me up then and I don't want some old worn gold coin. It has to be a nice one.

 

Looking at the above picture and the number of islamic attacks going on in the world, I ask myself, "How can I lose?"

I believe this is exactly what such countries as North Korea and Iran are hoping that old Uncle Sam will say to them. Just like Europe after the war and the money that flowed into Europe to rebulid what was destroyed. Even Japan profited by such deals after the war.

 

The United States almost went to nuclear war in 1962 when Cuba started stock piling missles. And many people wonder why Israel is fighting hezbollah?? Gee, I wonder??

 

Kind of strange to be lobbing conventional weapons at Israel unless you have death wish. Because Israel denies it, but they can fry their foes and send them to hell in push of button. What was that secret project in Negev Desert?

 

I think Israel has been very very very patient for too long. Now it is no more nice guy, and time to take cover off and barefist it with these vermin. Maybe if USA did that when Osama Bin Laden killed 3,000 Christians, Jewish, and even Muslims nearly 5 years ago you wouldn't be dancing and prancing still with these b*stards. Its funny how many of the world leaders are "asking" hezbollah, hamas, and Israel to disarm...for peace. The fact is if hezbollah and hamas disarmed, there would be peace. If Israel disarmed, they would be slaughtered!

I heard on the news that Israel is only trusting themselves when it comes to brokering a truce with these animals. I say, "Good for them!". Israel has tried to appease and negotiate with these animals and everytime, these animals broke the truce or wanted more, such as the utter destruction of Israel.

Israel is at a point where the talking is over because islamic radicals again started this mess and these people can't ever be trusted, so Israel is doing the right thing by trying to destroy them.
