What about the bombs in Mumbi in August 2003, 48 dead 150 injured,
how about the Janpur train bombing? or the Delhi market bombs 60+ dead at that one?
How about Mumbi 2006 train bombing 206 dead 700+ injured? Malegaon 37 dead 125 wounded
The 2007 Samjhauta Express bombings? or the Hydrabad bombings were they found and defused another 19 bombs?
13 May 2008 Jaipur bombings were a series of nine synchronized bomb blasts killing 63 with over 200 wounded?
Ahmedabad. A series of seventeen blasts killing 49 and injuring 160 people
Delhi. A series of 5 bombs exploded in Delhi, killing 30 and injuring 90
Assam bombings 84 deaths and 470 injuries


And you tell me India has not had a terrorist attack of the scale of this weeks?? You dont have the slightest idea of what you are talking about.

Mourning the dead

I've read this thread and it has become a joke. A VERY BAD joke.
Ruben and I don't necessarily see eye to eye but I send my condolences to him and others of his faith. Innocent people died.
They were not all Jewish, they were not all Americans nor were they all British. They were people. Innocent people that were brutally murdered.

Their crime? Being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yes, it seems there were religious and political ramifications. Kind of a no brainer wouldn't you say?

An attack like this is not planned overnight. It was obviously highly coordinated and took months if not years of planning. I highly doubt Obama being elected Presidnet had much, if anything, to do with this. Yet we have a "member" here espousing this and warning for more.

People point fingers at Bush because he's been the President for 8 years. He's had his time. Yeah, we're all safe - or are we?
What would yoy say when this happened if McCain or Ron Paul were the President Elect? Can you answer that? How far back would you have to dig? Maybe to the fact that Obama had actually run for President?

Can I ask why anybody would think this? This is what the news says but why? Does this attack really seem that complicated? You mean to tell me you couldn't put 20 terrorists in a room, hand out weapons, split them up into groups and tell them which buildings to attack at 3 p.m. tomorrow??

Just like the "high and mighty" head of New Orlean's S.W.A.T. claiming on CNN that these individuals "must have been HIGHLY trained." How exactly would one come to that conclusion? Any evil person that spends 5 minutes to figure out how to use a weapon, can carry out anything they want against unarmed civilians! I don't know if I would use the term highly trained. Motivated would be the term I would use.

I mean, give me a break. If anything they're trying to sugar coat this so people aren't more afraid at how easily this is done and how badly prepared everybody is.

 

Maybe the government is too? After 9/11, our civil liberties came under attack before sensible measures were introduced such as closing down borders or encouraging concealed carry, which never happened. We increased airport screeners. We introduced wire taps and suspended habeus corpus.

The government wants public perception to be that they have total control and are the only ones who can provide you with security. When in reality, they don't have the man power or the coverage to possibly do this if they wanted to. Problem #1, response time. Guess what? Usually you don't have 30 minutes to spare with heavily armed, suicidal terrorists. If you don't have armed, good guys, prepared to immediately, PHYSICALLY, COUNTERACT a situation, you can count on a substantial body count and *perceived* security once authorities are on the scene, an hour later, casually walking around with their M-16s, after the terrorist commits suicide and it's all over.

Since our rights are restricted, most of us are at the mercy of good fortune. Just don't be at the wrong place at the wrong time and you'll be fine. Because the terrorists hold the trump card until the government "allows" people to protect themselves. The terrorists can be armed. You don't get to be for following the law.

Now of course, if they are a suicide bomber, than no. There's nothing anybody can do in THAT particular unfortunate situation. A guy with an AK-47?? Or a pair of .22 handguns for that matter? YES! Something can be done in that situation but the government expects you to wait for them to get there. Yes, maybe some people would still die. But at least somebody could put a bullet in him before he runs out of ammunition!

But, there I go with my realistic line of thought again. What do I know? I'm sure some people would rather live with the terrorist risk than the "horrific" thought of anonymous good guys being armed and able where they're needed the most. In heavily populated areas.

After all, the police are on such a high pedestal, they can barely be called human beings! The training they go through is so rigorous and complicated that the average person isn't qualified to conceal a hand gun and use it if necessary. We're taught to fear guns now. Not that one in the right hands could actually counter the evil that we have no choice but to live with in this world.

 

Especially in the executive mansion in Washington DC.

Think your civil liberties have been trashed? Try banking in this post - 9/11 world. It is a lot of "fun". Wanna buy or sell gold in quantity? Lots of reports to fill out for Big Brother nowadays.

Was the bombing well-planned? Obviously it was...probably years in the planning but it's the TIMING issue that should concern you. Why did they pick now? Why that particular location? What's next?

Like I stated earlier, we can be reactive or proactive. Reactive will cost many more lives and probably another war. Proactive won't make friends but it will keep us safe. After 9/11 we have become a lot more proactive but, sadly,the liberal left will make sure we go back to the way it was...sensitive to the feelings of other countries & a big old target on our backs.

Oh yeah, I don't believe this would be happening had anyone other than Obama been elected, except maybe for Kucinich.

Should we deploy our limited troops worldwide? Should we start World War III to keep it safe over here?

Let me ask you this again David do you blame President Bush for the attack on the Twin Towers? or how about the Attack in LA airport? The 1st event in case you had forgoten was 8 months into his Presidency so is he to Blame? How about retracting your statement that India had never experienced this level of terrorist attack before as well?
Should we also blame President Bush for those attacks and the ones on Israil?? Iraq. Afghanistan, Bali, London, Madrid and a host of others. After all he is the man in office. Try blaming Obama for things that happen when he is on charge.
