Yeah but Cuba is just a US government lie made up to scare Floridians from sailing into the bermuda triangle or something like that. Name another.
* Antigua and Barbuda* Australia* Bahamas* Bahrain* Barbados* Brunei* Cape Verde*Comoros * Cuba* Cyprus* Dominica* Dominican Republic* East Timor* Federated States of Micronesia* Fiji* Grenada* Haiti* Iceland* Indonesia* Jamaica* Japan* Kiribati* Madagascar* Maldives* Malta* Marshall Islands* Mauritius* Nauru* New Zealand* Palau* Papua New Guinea* Philippines* Republic of China (Taiwan) * Republic of Ireland* Saint Kitts and Nevis* Saint Lucia* Saint Vincent and the Grenadines* Samoa* São Tomé and Príncipe* Seychelles* Singapore* Solomon Islands* Sri Lanka* Tonga* Trinidad and Tobago* Turks and Caicos* Tuvalu* United Kingdom* Vanuatu I believe there is somewhere around 47 of them. So now why don't we move on to something important?
Please reread more carefully what I wrote above. A nation is defined as being a group of people with a shared language/culture/beliefs system/etc. whereas a state is a sovereign territory with a government that answers to no other government. You have just described Taiwan, incorrectly I might add, as being a state. However, your description fits with my original assessment of it being a nation. I think you might have simply gotten the terms mixed up. Thanks! AJM
Yeah, but all 47 are just temporary and will only exist until global warming melts the polar ice cap and they become shallow parts of the ocean. So in reality, no island countries actually exists with any kind of permanent presence wouldn't you agree? It's hard to agrue with logic this airtight.
Taiwan only answers to itself. Until the 1990's Taiwan was controlled by Koumintang party, mainland Chinese. Now Taiwan govt is native born, Taiwanese speaking. But if state is defined as only that which doesn't answer to another, then a lot of countries just lost statehood, especially those with a foreign monarch in the form of Queen Elisabeth of the United Kingdom, whom is also quite notably the monarch of many many other nations - Canada, Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Bahamas etc.
