Chuckle, 'HiJacked Threads' are simply part of CoinTalk... I agree, being once a member of the British Commonwealth gave America part of it's collective identity. I'm of British and Scandinavian blood, but I've always said, "in order to be British, one must be part Scandinavian..."

Those darn Vikings did more than Pillage and Loot, LOL... ;)

    KLJ Really Smart Guy

John McCain's biography tells the story of a speaker who came to the Naval Academy round about the time McCain graduated (mid-60's). The speaker told the story of some protesters who were chanting "make love, not war!" The speaker's response, given to raise the morale of the midshipmen, was "Gentlemen, we're man enough to do both!"

    Uff da!

Just another example of some long overdue civility that seems to be creeping into this forum since Steve, o-u-r O-v-e-r-l-o-r-d a-n-d S-u-p-r-e-m-e R-u-l-e-r, has taken to monitoring the goings on in these parts. Good move powers that be!

Yeah, it doesn't really suck THAT much. I had been overindulging a bit in the cheap american lager, and was sick of hearing about the damn commonwealth. LOL. I don't blame the Irish for not wanting to join though. I wouldn't want to become a part of a country that came over and tried to conquer me either.

How many was that? 20? And so what? I'm sure some guys dodged the draft during WWII. And the Civil War. And Korea. etc., etc. I heard of a guy who went to Scotland to dodge the draft. He became a citizen. So now what? you probably hate Jane fonda too. And the vets that threw thier medals on the Capitol's steps. But wait, they said they were sorry for doing that. Is that ok then?

John, the calls for the international community to mount a military invasion of Zimbabwe are getting louder. The sooner that Mugabe & his Z.A.N.U.-P.F. barbarians have been driven from power, the better! Zimbabwe is one country that will need a lot of assistance, especially from British Commonwealth member states such as South Africa & the U.K.,to get back on its feet.

Z.A.N.U.-P.F. is southern Africa's equivilant of Sinn Fein/I.R.A..Had the Anglo-Irish Treaty not been signed in 1921,then there would have been the possibility of Sinn Fein/I.R.A. taking power in Ireland,& mounting a Z.A.N.U.-P.F. style ethnic cleansing campaign, just like that similar to what occurred in Matabeleland in the 1980's,to drive out every Protestant from Ireland.

The winds of change will come to both Ireland & Zimbabwe. Both countries will eventually return to their memberships of the British Commonwealth.

Craig, the British Commonwealth is an international organisation that doesn't have the power to interfere in the internal affairs of a member state. The British Commonwealth was established unofficially in 1926,& gained recognition under the Statute of Westminster in 1931,which meant that the British Parliament could not legislate for a Dominion without the consent of a Dominion's Parliament that the legislation was intended for.

The British Commonwealth actually was the model by which the United Nations was created in 1946.

Craig, you ask once to tell you what it took to be an American! Remembert that?

Well, when you write posts like this, it's evident that you haven't learned what it takes. Otherwise you would have the answeres to these questions already and would not have to ask.

Recommendation...grow up and try being a man first. After that we can work on making you a Good American.

Naah! Probably not worth the effort.

What are you talking about? Did you lose your sense of smell old timer? When I asked you what it took to be a good American, well that was in another post. Remember that? Did the VA misplace you medication again? Get back to us when you are coherent again.

Sorry De Orc. The "w" word is not something I think of as unclean, its just funny to me. But since it is used in a mean-spirited way elsewhere, I'll try to refrain from using it here in the future.
